WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven women's volleyball team moved to 3-0 in the Northeast-10 with a Friday evening sweep of visiting Le Moyne. Kristen Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) had 11 kills to lead a balanced Chargers' attack in a 3-0 victory by set scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-11.

New Haven, which improves to 8-3 overall, hit .267 collectively, capped by a .333 mark in the third set. Lee hit .455 (11-1-22) to amass her 11 kills. Amber Cannady (Yonkers, N.Y./Charles E. Gorton) added eight finishers, Kristy Atufunwa (Denver, Colo./Denver East) had seven and Margo Meteyer (Madison, Wis./Madison West) added six from the outside. Meghan Kennelly (Detroit, Mich./Eisenhower) came off the bench to record three kills, Kaulana Ane (Paia, Hawai'i/Kamehameha) picked up a pair from the setter spot and Ashley Dalton (Helena, Mont./Capital / Northern Arizona University) rounded out the offense with one kill.

Ane and Annika Hacker (Bayreuth, Germany/Littleton (Colo.)) shared setting duties and distributed 18 and 15 assists, respectively. Ane completed a double-double with 12 digs while libero Kea-Marie Olaso (Kailua, Hawai'i/Le Jardin Academy) led all players with 14 digs. At the net, Cannady had a hand in three of the Chargers' six team blocks and Atufunwa sent down a pair of solo rejections. The UNH defense held the Dolphins to a .037 hitting percentage.

In the serving game, Lee and Ane each landed two of New Haven's six service aces.

A 4-0 run sparked the Chargers to an 11-4 lead in set one, forcing Le Moyne to call its first timeout. The Dolphins notched the first point out of the stoppage, but the Chargers soon strung together four more rallies and rebuilt a 10-point cushion at 20-10. Following four-straight points by the visitors, Cannady fired off a kill and Meteyer slammed down a pair as the Chargers started to pull away. Back-to-back Dolphins' errors ended the set with New Haven taking a 25-15 decision.

New Haven was again the aggressor early in set two as Meteyer and Olaso each landed an ace as a part of an 8-2 start to the frame. The Chargers extended their lead to eight points at 17-9 before the Dolphins put together their longest run of the match – 7-2 stretch that trimmed the margin to 19-16. The clubs traded points for the remainder of the set, which was enough for New Haven to earn a 25-20 victory to a take 2-0 lead in the match.

Lee hammered four kills in the opening stage of the third set, guiding the Chargers to a 6-1 advantage. New Haven raced out to a 15-5 lead before the Dolphins put together consecutive points for the first time in the stanza. However, a 7-0 run fueled by an Atufunwa kill and two Chargers' blocks put the set out of reach, and New Haven coasted to a 25-11 win to seal the 3-0 triumph.

Le Moyne got eight kills apiece from Marissa Piccinini and Natalie Casson. Megan Maisonet distributed a match-high 24 assists and Annie Stoklosa had a team-leading 13 digs.

The Chargers will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Philadelphia tomorrow for a tri-match at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. New Haven plays a pair of CACC foes in the City of Brotherly Love – Bloomfield at 1 p.m. and the host Devils at 3 p.m. The Chargers will then resume Northeast-10 action on Tuesday at American International before returning to Charger Gymnasium on Saturday, Oct. 12 for a tri-match featuring NE-10 foe Merrimack and perennial power No. 5 Nebraska-Kearney.
