WEST HAVEN, Conn. - With 6.6 seconds left in regulation, junior midfielder Eric Robertson (Stratford, Conn./Stratford) netted the University of New Haven men's soccer team's game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Bentley University Friday afternoon on Senior Day at Kayo Field.

The exciting finish to the game also capped the Chargers' season as they finished with a 2-14-1 overall mark and a 2-11-0 record in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Falcons dropped to 8-7-1 overall and 7-6-0 conference record.

The first half featured two goals, one from both teams. Senior Edwin Carvajal (Norwalk, Conn./Wilton) recorded the best opportunity in the first 30 minutes for UNH with a header in the box which was booted around and eventually kicked out of play by the Falcons. Bentley took the first lead of the match off a Nicolas Ucros goal in the 38th minute. Six minutes later, the Chargers were on a breakaway when Falcon goalkeeper Jack Blatchford came out of the box to challenge for the ball. He was called for a foul and Oskar Sewerin (Stockholm, Sweden/Östra Reals Gymnasium) lined up for the free kick just outside the 18-yard box. The sophomore hit the upper left corner of the cross bar and the ball bounced down into the net, tying the match at 1-1 with 98 second left in the first half.

Robertson's goal was the only of the second half, but not the only opportunity. With the match tied 1-1 in the 83rd minute, New Haven goalkeeper James Pyatsky (Stewart Manor, N.Y./Garden City) kept the match knotted with a save on a Falcon penalty kick and subsequent shot on goal. The Chargers offense then took over, amassing three shots before Robertson's game-winner. Robertson collected the ball from Will Richard (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) after a Bentley turnover.

Andres Torres (Medellín, Colombia/Norwalk (Conn.) / Adelphi University) led the team with three shots, including one on goal. Seniors Gui Dos Santos (Curitiba, Brazil/Bethel (Conn.)) and Carvajal combined for four shots and two shots on goal.

In net, Pyatsky recorded five saves in his first collegiate victory.
