Opening Tip
The University of New Haven plays its second-straight Northeast-10 Southwest Division road game with a trip to American International. The Chargers are vying for back-to-back wins for the first time in the young 2013-14 season.

Chargers' Last Time Out
The University of New Haven earned its first road win of the season with a 73-62 decision at Pace on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Justin Exum scored 30 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field, a 6-for-9 rate from distance and a 10-for-12 performance at the free throw line. It was the third 30-point performance of his career and first since New Year's Eve in 2011 when he dropped 36 points against Molloy College.

The Chargers, who outscored the Setters by 16 in the first half, shot 48.8 percent from the floor in the game (20-of-41) and held a 30-21 advantage on the boards.

Eric Anderson recorded his third double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman Jemal Mosley added 10 points of 3-of-4 shooting and 4-of-5 from the foul line.

The Chargers broke a 17-17 tie midway through the first half with a 28-7 run over the ensuing 7:10 to take a 45-24 lead that they would not relinquish. Exum netted back-to-back treys to start the run, and the Blue and Gold sank 12-of-14 free throws during the stretch.

Denzel Primus-Devonish scored a team-high 26 points for the Setters.

Scouting American International
The Yellow Jackets from American International have rebounded from a 1-3 start win back-to-back wins to even their tally at 3-3. AIC is 1-0 in the Northeast-10 following its most recent outing, a 70-51 triumph at Saint Rose. The Yellow Jackets were tabbed for sixth in the Southwest Division in the Northeast-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Janek Schmidkunz leads four Yellow Jackets averaging double figures with 16.5 points per game. Bobby Harris adds 15.0 points per game and team-leading 5.3 assists per contest.

Mark Ellis Jr. heads the effort on the boards with 6.3 rebounds per contest; the Yellow Jackets are facing a -6.0 rebounding margin as a team this season.

Tonight's game is the home opener for American International.

Last Season vs. American International
The Chargers swept the home-and-home series from American International in 2012-13. New Haven took a 65-58 decision at Charger Gymnasium on Dec. 4 to start the club on an 11-game winning streak and completed the sweep in Springfield on Feb. 20 with a 60-50 triumph (box score featured right).

Four Chargers averaged double figures against the Yellow Jackets last season, including 11.0 points and 16.5 rebounds per game from Eric Anderson.

Among active players, Spencer Braithwaite led the team in scoring against New Haven with 12.0 points per game. Former Yellow Jacket David Campbell averaged 12.5 points per game in the series last winter.

All-Time Series
Last season's sweep closed the Yellow Jackets' margin in the series to a 25-21 advantage. The series is tied at 3-3 during the tenure of fourth-year New Haven head coach Ted Hotaling.

Since the Chargers joined the Northeast-10 in the 2008-09 campaign, the home-and-home series has been a sweep in every season except for 2011-12.

New Haven Notes
Eric Anderson averages 15.0 points and a conference-best 13.5 rebounds with three double-doubles in the 2013-14 campaign. Last winter, Anderson had 18 double-doubles, just one shy of the NCAA Division II leader in that category. The Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year and a Second Team All-NE-10 pick, Anderson also ranked third in nation in rebounding with 12.0 boards per game last season.

Four games into his junior season, Anderson has already climbed into fourth all-time at New Haven with 131 rejections. His 71 blocks in 2012-13 were the second-most in a single-season in Charger history, tied with Bill Jeffress' 71 blocks and two shy of Herb Watkins' 73 rejections - both from the 1986-87 campaign.

Justin Exum scored 18 points in his season debut on Wednesday against Le Moyne to enter the top-20 all-time at New Haven. After the third 30-point game of his career in Saturday's win at Pace, he stands in 18th place on the career ledger with 1,274 career tallies, 353 points shy of the all-time top-10.

Also among the all-time Charger greats from beyond the arc, Exum slots at second all-time in three-pointers made with 240, and his .388 shooting percentage from distance is the sixth-best in program history. Most recently, he drained six triples on 11 attempts from distance at Pace on Saturday. Last season, New Haven's leading scorer with 15.8 points per game knocked down the third-most three-pointers in a season with 82 while shooting at a .432 clip from downtown.

Jeffery Adkins, Jr. is averaging 12.0 points per game to begin his final season with the Blue and Gold. Adkins, who posted 12.9 points per contest last winter, currently sits at 861 career tallies.

Adkins also ranks 11th all-time in assists at New Haven with 279 and slots in a tie for 15th in career steals with 111.

Jemal Mosley has made an immediate impact on the Northeast-10 Conference in his freshman campaign. In two games against NE-10 competition, Mosley is averaged 11.0 points per contest on 7-for-11 shooting from the field in 20.5 minutes of action. The true freshman is a product of Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) with a post-graduate year at Putnam Science Academy (Putnam, Conn.).

New Haven has continued two positive trends in the first four games of the season. The Chargers are committing 10.3 turnovers per game and surrendering 59.8 points per outing. UNH ranked 10th in the nation with 11.0 turnovers per game and placed 13th in Division II defensively with 61.1 points allowed per outing last winter.
