Last Season vs. American International
The Chargers swept the home-and-home series from American International by a pair of double-digit margins. New Haven took a 79-67 win on its home court on Dec. 4, 2012 and followed up with a 70-56 triumph on Feb. 20, 2013 in Springfield.
Â
Briana Bradford averaged 16.0 points per game against the Yellow Jackets, and Lauren Hebert added 10.0 points per outing. Aquillin Hayes tallied a double-double in the road game of the series en route to 8.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest against AIC.

Â
All-Time Series               Â
After last season's New Haven sweep, the all-time series is knotted at 13-13.
Â
The Chargers are 6-4 against the Yellow Jackets since joining the Northeast-10 prior to the 2008-09 season. The home-and-home series has been a sweep in every season during that span.
Â
New Haven Notes
The Chargers' 4-0 start is the first for the program since the 1989-90 team won its first six outings en route to the best start in program history. The Blue and Gold are 3-0 in the conference for first time since 2009-10. That team won its first four NE-10 encounters, the best start since New Haven joined the conference in 2008-09.
Â
After matching her career high with 23 points at Dominican on Nov. 9, Briana Bradford established a new personal standard with 24 tallies in the Nov. 13 win over Saint Rose. Bradford also knocked down a career-best five three-pointers against the Golden Knights.
Â
This season, Bradford has surpassed 20 points in three games en route to a team-high 19.8 points per contest. She is shooting 23-for-42 (54.8 percent) from the floor, 11-for-19 (57.9 percent) from three-point range and 22-for-25 (88 percent) from the free throw line.
Â
Bradford's 2012-13 All-Rookie Team distinction marked the third straight season that a Charger earned a spot alongside the NE-10's top freshmen, following 2011-12 Rookie of the Year Bria Moore and 2010-11 All-Rookie selection Anh-Dao Tran.
Â
Aquillin Hayes' double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds) against Le Moyne was her first of the season after notching a team-best seven double-doubles in 2012-13. Ashley LeBlanc also had a pair of double-doubles last winter. Hayes averages 9.3 points and a team-leading 10.3 rebounds per game in 21.5 minutes per contest.
Â
Prior to the season-opening win at Dominican, New Haven last played an overtime game on Jan. 2, 2011 at crosstown and Northeast-10 rival Southern Connecticut State (L, 60-54) and last won in an extra session on Jan. 26, 2010 at Southern New Hampshire (W, 67-65). The last non-conference overtime game for the Blue and Gold also came at Dominican - an 84-79 victory on Jan. 8, 2009.
Â
2012-13 Season
Aquillin Hayes averaged 10.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game with seven double-doubles last season. She ranked third in the NE-10 and 24th in all of Division II on the glass and was also the conference's third-most prolific shot blocker. Hayes nearly registered a triple-double with 12 points, 21 rebounds and eight blocked shots in the Chargers' 95-52 win over Le Moyne on Feb. 16, 2013.
Â
Hayes' 21 boards in the triumph over the Dolphins were the most by a Charger since Joy Jeter had 23 rebounds in a win over Keene State on Jan. 23, 1988. A New Haven Athletics Hall of Famer, three-time All-America honoree and the NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player for the 1987 National Championship team, Jeter is New Haven's all-time leader in both career points (2,299) and career rebounds (1,486).
Â
The Chargers were one of three Northeast-10 teams to average more than 70 points per game (third, 71.0 ppg) last winter. New Haven also led the NE-10 in fewest turnovers committed with 15.7 giveaways per contest.
Â
The Chargers' 13 Northeast-10 wins and sixth-place regular season finish in 2012-13 both marked program bests since joining the NE-10. At 14-13 overall, New Haven also finished above .500 for the first time since posting a 21-9 mark en route to the East Coast Conference regular season crown in 2007-08.
