WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The NEC announced its annual major award winners and All-Conference teams on Monday afternoon. New Haven women's basketball's Aniya McDonald-Perry (Middletown, Conn./Putnam Science Academy) earned Second Team All-NEC honors while also being named to the NEC All-Defensive Team.
McDonald-Perry collected multiple conference recognitions throughout the season, earning NEC Player of the Week honors twice (Jan. 6 and Feb. 2) and being named an NEC Prime Performer on six occasions.
In the conference statistical rankings, McDonald-Perry finished tied for 13th in scoring (11.4 ppg), second in rebounding (9.1 rpg), and first in offensive rebounds per game (4.5). She also ranked tied for third in defensive rebounds per game (4.6), fourth in free-throw percentage (.787), fifth in total free throws made (96), tied for third in blocks per game (1.0), and first in steals per game (2.7). Additionally, she ranked third in minutes played with 1,007.
For the Chargers, McDonald-Perry led the team in minutes played, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks while finishing second on the team in scoring.
McDonald-Perry becomes the first player in program history to be All Conference at the Division I level.
