WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Head Women's Basketball Coach, Debbie Buff, has announced the addition of Olivia Tucker to the women's basketball coaching staff as an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. Tucker brings with her a wealth of experience as a former Division I student-athlete while returning to the Southern Connecticut area, where she played at Sacred Heart University for four years.
Tucker joins New Haven following her tenure as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, NJ, where she began her coaching career in August 2024. At Saint Peter's, she played a key role in developing opponent scouting reports, conducting player development workouts, and aiding in team recruitment efforts. Her responsibilities also included managing team logistics, monitoring academic progress, and assisting with NCAA compliance.
During her playing days, Tucker was known as a tenacious defender and sharpshooter, helped lead Sacred Heart to a pair of NEC Conference Championships (2023, 2024), the 2024 NEC regular season title, and two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, which included a 13-point performance in the team's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory in program and conference history in 2023 with a 57-47 win over Southern University in the First Four.
Her academic background includes a Master's degree in Strategic Communications and Public Relations, graduating summa cum laude from Sacred Heart University in August 2024. Prior to that, she completed her undergraduate studies at Sacred Heart University in May 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Communications, PR, and Advertising, along with a minor in Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation.
