The Chargers, leading 9-8, when on a 3-0 run in the opening set to establish and early lead on the Panthers. Three errors and a service ace from Meteyer later in the set put New Haven in control at 20-12. Adelphi battled back, scoring five of the next six points to cut the Chargers lead to 21-18. Three more Adelphi errors followed by a Cannady kill gave New Haven a 25-20 win in set one.

New Haven jumped out to the early lead, 11-8, in the second set, but Adelphi tallied four-straight points to take their second lead of the set. The lead would change teams twice before another four-straight from the Panthers gave them a comfortable 18-15 lead after a Mandy Stanislovaitis kill. A Kristen Lee kill would cut Adelphi's lead back to two, but the Panthers got kills from Shelby Stoner and DeStefano down the stretch to take a 25-20 victory.

After playing to a 15-15 tie, Cannady sparked a 4-0 run for UNH who took a 19-15 lead late in set three. UNH maintained the momentum and Meteyer gave the Chargers a 23-16 lead with a kill from Ane. The Panthers took their second timeout, but UNH stayed course as Dalton buried a kill to end the set 25-19.

The fourth set was the most lopsided of the evening in the early going, as New Haven jumped out to a 12-5 lead after back-to-back errors from the Panthers. After a 3-0 Adelphi run, Cannady gave UNH match point with her 12th kill of the evening.
