WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Cyrus James (Manchester, Conn./Howell Cheney Tech) and Eric Anderson (Newark, N.J./Newark Tech) both recorded double-doubles and led the University of New Haven men's basketball team to a 69-56 win over the visiting College of Saint Rose in Northeast-10 Conference action Tuesday night. The win was the fifth-straight for the Chargers.

New Haven improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Golden Knights dropped to 5-4 on the season and 3-2 in NE-10 action.

James registered his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 12 boards. The Manchester, Conn. native added three blocks and one steal on his career night. Anderson's double-double, his sixth of the season, included 11 points, 16 rebounds, seven blocks and three assists. He tied his career-best of seven rejections. It marked the first time of the season that two players recorded double-doubles, with the most recent coming against UMass Lowell on Feb. 2, 2013.

Jeffery Adkins (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) scored a game-high 17 points off 4-of-9 shooting and 8-of-11 at the stripe. The Piscataway, N.J. native added a game-high five assists. Justin Exum (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) contributed 16 points and four rebounds in the win as well. Rookie Jemal Mosley (Spring Valley, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep / Putnam Science Academy) finished with nine points, while Ashanti DePass (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) rounded out UNH scoring with five.

The Chargers outrebounded Saint Rose 45-38 and recorded 19 for free throw attempts. UNH connected on 21-of-26 free throw attempts, while the Golden Knights went 4-of-7 at the charity stripe. New Haven also recorded 11 blocks to Saint Rose's four.

The UNH defense, ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II in points allowed, held Saint Rose under its average and improved its season average to 58.0 points.

Anderson scored the first points of the game after an offensive rebound and the Chargers took the lead for the opening 15 minutes. James completed a non-traditional three-point play and put New Haven ahead 11-6 six minutes into the half. During the opening run, seven of New Haven's first 11 points were second chance points. In the following minutes, Anderson and Mosley continued to push the Chargers ahead with a pair of baskets. Mosley's triple at the 11:53 mark gave UNH its largest lead of the first half, 16-5. Saint Rose chipped away at New Haven's lead and finished an 8-2 run to shrink the lead to four, 20-16. Over the next three minutes, the Golden Knights' second 8-2 run gave the visitors their first lead of the game. Isaiah Cosbert put in a jumper in transition for Saint Rose's 24-22 lead at the 4:58 mark. The advantage was short lived as New Haven regained the lead on an Exum three-pointer a minute later. New Haven held on to the lead through the final three minutes and controlled game at halftime 30-28.

New Haven held a small lead with a James layup to open the second half, but Saint Rose immediately answered. The Golden Knights went on a 10-5 run and took their first lead of the second half 4:22 into play. The back-and-forth play continued with Mosley finishing an 8-0 run as UNH regained the lead. New Haven held on to the lead for the remained of the game, but the Golden Knights kept the lead within single digits for a majority of the half. With 10:12 left, Dominykas Milka hit a layup and brought Saint Rose within one point, 49-48. Later in the half, the Chargers finished the game on an 11-2 run to finish off the 13-point win.
