New Haven vs. Holy Family
New Haven at East Stroudsburg
Saturday, Sept. 14 – 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.
East Stroudsburg, Pa. – Koehler Fieldhouse

After a 2-1 start to the 2013 season, the University of New Haven women's volleyball team hits the road for the first time with a Saturday tri-match at East Stroudsburg. The Chargers will meet Holy Family and the host Warriors in back-to-back matches beginning at 2:30 p.m.

New Haven swept Wilmington and Stonehill along with a 3-1 loss to LIU Post at the Charger Invitational last weekend. Amber Cannady (Yonkers, N.Y./Charles E. Gorton) and Annika Hacker (Bayreuth, Germany/Littleton (Colo.)) were selected as the Chargers' representatives on the All-Invitational Team. Cannady led all players at the event with 3.10 kills and 1.50 blocks per set and a .348 hitting percentage, while Hacker distributed 9.90 assists per frame in her collegiate debut at setter for New Haven. Ashley Dalton (Helena, Mont./Capital / Northern Arizona University) was second behind Cannady in both blocks (1.00 per set) and hitting percentage (.345) among all players at the Invitational. Kea-Marie Olaso (Kailua, Hawai'i/Le Jardin Academy) led the team's defense efforts with 5.10 digs per set.

Holy Family enters the weekend with a record of 1-3 after a 1-2 weekend at Millersville and a midweek loss in its CACC opener against Philadelphia on Thursday. Emma Herring racked up 20 kills in three sets against the Rams, increasing her team-leading clip to 3.13 kills per frame. Chelsea Keegan runs the Tigers' offense with 9.87 assists per set, and Devyn Ingram has led a balanced back row with 3.67 digs per frame.

East Stroudsburg begins its home tri-match at 3-1 on the young season. The Warriors, who are yet to leave their home court this fall, have recorded wins over Mercy, the University of the Sciences and Georgian Court with a loss to Le Moyne providing the lone blemish. Annabelle Charlton, who is the reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week, leads ESU with 3.38 kills per set and a .324 hitting percentage in addition to 3.08 digs and 4.00 assists per stanza.

The weekend trip to Monroe County starts a five-match road swing for the Chargers. UNH will play three straight opponents that reached the NCAA Division II East Region Championship with visits to NYIT, Franklin Pierce and Dowling before returning to Charger Gymnasium to entertain Assumption on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
