Last Time Out
New Haven defeated Saint Anselm, 65-51, to conclude the second annual "Class at the Court" event on Wednesday afternoon.

Briana Bradford scored a team-high 20 points for the Chargers, shooting 5-for-8 with two three-pointers and an 8-for-8 day at the free throw line from the New Haven bench. She scored 17 of her points in the second half.

Aquillin Hayes recorded her sixth double-double of the season and second in a row with 18 points and a game-leading 12 rebounds to guide the Chargers to a 39-34 advantage on the glass.

Down low, Rykema Stone had six points and Ayana Duncanson scored five with each post player also coming away with six rebounds.

As a unit, New Haven shot 24-for-54 (44.4 percent) from the field, 3-for-11 (27.3 percent) from beyond the arc and 14-for-20 (70 percent) from the free throw line.

Defensively, the Chargers held their opponents below 60 points for the sixth time this season.

New Haven trailed at the half, 28-24, but put together runs of 7-0 and 18-3 to open up a lead that grew as large as 18 points en route to victory.

During their current four-game winning streak, the Chargers have twice erased a halftime deficit en route to victory and are scoring 40.5 points per game in the second half.

New Haven Notes
At 10-3, New Haven is off to its best 13-game start since the 2006-07 campaign. The Chargers began that season at 12-3 and finished 25-6 en route to their second consecutive NYCAC/ECC Championship.

The Chargers rank second in the Northeast-10 with 60.5 points per game allowed and lead the NE-10 with an opponents' field goal percentage of 35.4 percent. Led by 19 rejections by Rykema Stone, the Blue and Gold are also third in the NE-10 with 3.6 blocks per game. Offensively, New Haven slots sixth in the conference with 70.2 points per game.

Including her most recent performance with a season-high 18 points and 12 rebounds in Wednesday's win over Saint Anselm, Aquillin Hayes has recorded six double-doubles this season. Hayes, who posted a team-leading seven double-doubles last winter, averages 11.3 points and a conference-best 10.9 rebounds per game.

Hayes has two career games with at least 20 rebounds, including the November overtime contest at No. 17 Rollins. She hauled in 21 boards to go along with 12 points and eight blocks in a win over Le Moyne last winter.

This season, Briana Bradford has surpassed 20 points in four games en route to a team-high 15.9 points per contest. She scored a career-high 24 points with five three-pointers in the Nov. 13 win over Saint Rose. Bradford also drained five from beyond the arc en route to 21 points in the conference win at Pace on Nov. 23. She most recently scored 20 points off the bench to lead all scorers against Saint Anselm on Wednesday.

Bria Moore has scored in double figures in 10 games this winter, including a streak of seven outings in a row from Nov. 26 through Dec. 22. She averages 12.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest and has provided a spark from long range, shooting 18-for-41 (43.9 percent). Moore scored a season-high 20 points against Adelphi on Dec. 7.

Rykema Stone's double-double against Saint Michael's on Dec. 20 added to a breakout winter for the junior. She currently averages 9.2 points and 6.3 rebounds while ranking second in the Northeast-10 with 1.5 blocks per contest.

The Chargers have knocked down eight or more three-pointers in four games this season, including 10 treys in the Nov. 13 win over Saint Rose. For the season, the Blue and Gold have connected on 67-of-173 attempts (38.7 percent) from beyond the arc to rank fourth in the Northeast-10 and ninth nationally in three-point efficency.

With 89 career three-pointers to her credit, Audrey Cunningham has climbed to ninth on the Chargers' all-time list.  She is one trey shy of tying Moe Stevens (1992-96) for eighth place and with 11 more triples would become the sixth player to knock down 100 attempts from distance for the Blue and Gold.

The three teams that have defeated the Chargers this winter (American International, Rollins, Adelphi) are a combined 33-7. The Panthers and Tars are both currently ranked in the USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll at No. 13 and No. 14, respectively.

The Chargers' 4-0 start was the first for the program since the 1989-90 team won its first six outings. The Blue and Gold also began at 3-0 in the conference for the first time since 2009-10.

Prior to the season-opening win at Dominican and the Nov. 30 loss at Rollins, New Haven last played an overtime game on Jan. 2, 2011 at crosstown and Northeast-10 rival Southern Connecticut State (L, 60-54). The Chargers last won in an extra session prior to this season on Jan. 26, 2010 at Southern New Hampshire (W, 67-65).

The Nov. 29 win over Davis & Elkins was the first New Haven victory outside of the East Region since a 72-67 win at Lynn in Boca Raton, Fla. on Dec. 20, 2009.
