New Haven led by as many as 23 points en route to a 70-51 win at Assumption on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Eric Anderson and Cyrus James each posted a double-double in the victory. Anderson tallied 17 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots, while James notched 11 points and a game-high 12 boards to go along with two blocks.

All five starters scored in double figures for the second straight game. Jeffery Adkins totaled 14 points with eight assists, Ashanti DePass scored 14 points and Justin Exum added 12.

New Haven shot 21-for-50 (42 percent) from the field, 4-for-16 from three-point range and 24-for-34 (70.6 percent) from the free throw line.

The Chargers held a 43-40 rebounding advantage, led by James and Anderson. New Haven converted 13 Assumption turnovers into 14 points, while the Greyhounds managed 13 points from 11 UNH miscues.

New Haven finished the first half on a 12-3 run to take a 35-23 lead into the intermission. The Chargers came out of the locker room on a 15-4 stretch to open up their largest lead of the afternoon at 50-27 and coasted to a 19-point win.

Prior to Saturday's meeting, the last four editions of the all-time series had been decided by a total of 10 points. Neither team has put together a streak of more than three consecutive victories in the series, which began in the 1979-80 season. The Chargers have now claimed the two most recent encounters with the Greyhounds.

New Haven Notes
As of the most recent NCAA report (through games played Jan. 12), New Haven ranks fifth in Division II with 60.6 points per game allowed. The Chargers also slot at fifth in the nation with an opponents' field goal percentage of 37.7 percent and rank 18th in the NCAA with 10.3 turnovers committed per game. The Blue and Gold currently lead the Northeast-10 in all three categories.

With a team-leading 21 points on Jan. 8 against Saint Anselm, Jeffery Adkins eclipsed 1,000 points for his career. The senior point guard most recently netted 14 points with eight assists in Saturday's win at Assumption to improve his career mark to 1,025 points.

This winter, Adkins is averaging 15.1 points and a team-high 4.2 assists per contest this season while shooting 52.7 percent from the floor. He has also moved into seventh all-time in assists at New Haven with 327 and shares 12th place in career steals at 121.

Justin Exum knocked down one three-pointer on Saturday to improve his New Haven program record to 256 treys after recently surpassing the mark of 251 triples established by Mike Grove from 1989-93. Exum's career .377 shooting percentage from distance is the sixth-best in program history.

Exum also ranks 12th all-time in scoring at New Haven with 1,412 career points. The Chargers' leading scorer for the third straight season with 15.5 points per game, he is 215 tallies shy of the program's all-time top 10.

With Adkins joining Exum in the 33-member 1,000-Point Club at New Haven, the Chargers boast two active 1,000-point scorers for the first time since Jamaal Brooks (1,248) and Ismael Caro (1,099) shared the court in the 2003-04 campaign.

Based upon his current scoring average, Eric Anderson could also reach the 1,000-point plateau during the 2013-14 regular season. The junior has accumulated 837 total points for the Blue and Gold.

This season, Anderson averages 15.1 points and ranks second in the Northeast-10 with 11.6 rebounds per game. The reigning NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year, who tops the conference with 2.86 blocked shots per contest, is seventh in the nation on the boards and ninth in rejections. Anderson has posted 10 double-doubles this season, four behind the national leader (Josh Gibbs, Central Oklahoma).

In the midst of his junior season, Anderson has climbed into fourth all-time at New Haven with 162 rejections. His 71 blocks in 2012-13 were the second-most in a single-season in Charger history, tied with Bill Jeffress' 71 blocks and two shy of Herb Watkins' 73 rejections - both from the 1986-87 campaign.

Including an 11-point, 12-rebound effort on Saturday, Cyrus James has recorded the first two double-doubles of his career this season. He is New Haven's most-efficient scorer this season at 38-for-66 (57.6 percent) from the floor en route to 6.6 points to go along with 8.3 rebounds per game. James ranks seventh in the NE-10 in both rebounds and blocked shots (1.43 bpg) per contest.
In his first season as a member of the starting lineup for Head Coach Ted Hotaling, Ashanti DePass is netting 10.4 points per game. The senior leads the team with 27 made three-pointers while playing 32.3 minutes per outing.
