BOX SCORE ARNOLD, Md. - Sophomore
Corinne Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) totaled four points to lead the nationally ranked No. 13 University of New Haven women's lacrosse team to an 11-6 victory over Grand Valley State University Saturday afternoon at Anne Arundel Community College.
With the win, New Haven improves to 4-0 on the season, while the Lakers drop to 2-4 overall.
Corinne Fisher scored three goals and handed out one assist, while leading the team with six shots.
Kathryn Campbell (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) and
Courtney Ackland (Perth, Western Australia/Churchlands) each added three points, with Campbell netting two goals and handing out one assist. Ackland assisted on two and scored one.
Nicole McKee (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) and
Nicole Belanger (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) both chipped in with two goals and
Maya Szymanski (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) finished with one goal and one assist.
New Haven outshot the Lakers 23-15 and control the draw with an 11-8 edge. The Chargers also tallied 30 ground balls compared to 28 by GVSU. In transition, UNH was successful on 14-of-16 clear attempts, while holding the Lakers to 9-of-16 attempts.Â

Alyssa Gianotti (Monkton, Md./Hereford) earned the win for New Haven with three saves, all in the first half.Â
Grand Valley State jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Sarah Lowe and Carolyn Kraus in the first five minutes of Saturday's contest. The Chargers came back with back-to-back goals in the next five minutes, from Ackland and Corinne Fisher, to even the score at 2-2 with 21:07 left in the half. New Haven scored three more in the first half, while holding the Lakers scoreless, to take a 5-2 lead into halftime.
Belanger and Szymanski scored a pair in the first five minutes of the second half to improve the Chargers' lead to 7-2 with 25:03 on the clock. Grand Valley State broke the UNH string with two unanswered goals to trim the lead to three, 7-4, just five minutes later. New Haven would score another three-straight goals, from McKee, Campbell and Corrine Fisher, in the next seven minutes to regain a commanding 10-4 lead at the 14:57 mark. After 10 scoreless minutes, Grand Valley State netted two more as the clock run under three minutes remaining. Campbell scored the game's final goal with 2:15 on the clock to seal New Haven's five-goal victory.
New Haven returns to action on Sunday, March 16 when it takes on No. 14 Pfeiffer University in another neutral site contest at Anne Arundel Community College. Game time in the top-15 non-conference showdown is set for 3:30 p.m.
