BOX SCORE NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Nine different players scored goals as the No. 4 nationally-ranked University of New Haven women's lacrosse team rolled to a 19-3 victory at Merrimack on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action.
Kathryn Campbell (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) led the way with four goals and two assists.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 11-1 overall and 7-1 in the Northeast-10. The host Warriors fall to 2-11 on the season with a 1-8 conference mark.
In addition to her team-best six points, Campbell picked up six draw controls, three groundballs and one caused turnover.
Nicole McKee (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) added three goals with two tallies apiece coming from
Courtney Ackland (Perth, Western Australia/Churchlands),
Marissa Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial),
Maya Szymanski (Framingham, Mass./Framingham),
Lindsay Lare (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) and
Alicia Busco (Agawam, Mass./Agawam). Rounding out the scoring were
Corinne Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Caitlin O'Brien with one goal apiece.
In the transition game, Corinne Fisher and McKee had four and three draw controls, respectively.
Brittany Ast (Glenwood, N.J./Vernon Township) had a pair of caused turnovers.
Three goalkeepers split time between the posts.
Alyssa Gianotti (Monkton, Md./Hereford) went the first 25:47 to earn the win, with
Sharon Strain (Armonk, N.Y./Byram Hills) and
Marissa McDermott (Longmeadow, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson Academy) completing the effort in between the posts. Each Charger netminder made two saves.
Campbell's first goal came on a free-position shot just 64 seconds into the contest as the Chargers ran off the game's first seven markers. New Haven would add five more in the opening half to take a commanding 12-1 lead into the locker room.
The Blue and Gold continued to find the back of the net, accounting for the first six markers of the second period to cruise to a 19-3 victory.
The Chargers return to Kayo Field for a two-game NE-10 homestand beginning on Wednesday, April 16 at 4 p.m. with a visit from Assumption.
