BOX SCORE BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – In the program's second NCAA Division II Championship appearance, the nationally ranked No. 4 University of New Haven women's lacrosse team fell 10-5 to No. 3 LIU Post Saturday afternoon at Hickox Field in Long Island.

New Haven concludes its season, tying the program record for wins, at 16-4. The Pioneers improve to 18-1 and advance to the national semifinals.

Senior
Nicole McKee (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) led the Chargers with two goals and an assist. Classmate
Marissa Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) added two goals, while
Kathryn Campbell (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) netted a goal and handed out an assist.
Courtney Ackland (Perth, Western Australia/Churchlands) and
Brittany Ast (Glenwood, N.J./Vernon Township) each contributed one assist.

Marissa McDermott (Longmeadow, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson Academy) suffered the loss in the net for UNH with 10 saves and 10 goals against.

As a team, the Chargers held a 9-8 lead in draw controls, but trailed 18-8 in ground balls. UNH turned the ball over 14 times and the Pioneers turned the ball over 12 times. The Chargers fired 20 shots compared to the Pioneers 24.

It took just 30-second for the Chargers to take the lead in Saturday's game. McKee netted her 58th goal of the season after receiving a pass from Ackland to give New Haven the first lead of the game. The senior gave UNH a 2-0 lead with her second of the game when she cut in front of the net and buried a pass from Campbell.

The Pioneers then went on a 7-0 run over the next 20 minutes to take a commanding lead.
Marissa Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) ended the run with seven seconds left in the first half. She finished a fast break opportunity and cut the Chargers' halftime deficit to four, 7-3.

LIU Post opened the second half with another two-goal run to take a 9-3 lead nine minutes into the stanza. Campbell scored her only goal of the game and brought the score back within five at 9-4. Both teams scored goals in the final 15 minutes as time ran out on the Chargers attempt at a comeback.

In 2014, New Haven reaches it highest ever national ranking at No. 4 and matched the most wins in program history at 16.
