BOX SCORE 2 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The University of New Haven women's volleyball team swept two matches on Saturday evening to round out a 4-0 weekend of action at the AIC Yellow Jacket Invitational. In non-conference action, the Chargers bested Northeast-10 opponents Saint Rose and host American International.
Kaulana Ane (Paia, Hawai'i/Kamehameha) was tabbed as the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

With the pair of wins, New Haven runs its winning streak to six matches and improves to 6-4 on the season. The Golden Knights now stand at 6-3, and the Yellow Jackets drop to 3-10. The Chargers will host AIC on Sept. 30 and Saint Rose on Oct. 15 as a part of the NE-10 schedule.

In the 4-0 weekend for the Chargers, Ane averaged 9.23 assists and 2.62 digs per frame while running the New Haven offense to a .224 hitting percentage. She also contributed 1.23 kills per set, landed three service aces and was a part of three New Haven blocks en route to Most Valuable Player honors. Ane posted a double-double with 51 assists and 18 digs in Friday's four-set win over Wilmington. She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by
Margo Meteyer (Madison, Wis./Madison West), who also had a double-double against the Wildcats with career highs of 19 kills and 20 digs.

In today's action, Meteyer led the Blue and Gold with 19 kills.
Kristy Atufunwa (Denver, Colo./Denver East) added 13 kills and
Kristen Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) had 12 finishers.
Defensively,
Kea-Marie Olaso (Kailua, Hawai'i/Le Jardin Academy) totaled 24 digs in six sets of work. In the process, she eclipsed 1,300 digs for her career (1,302) and moved into seventh place all-time at New Haven.

New Haven 3, Saint Rose 0 (25-12, 25-17, 28-26)In New Haven's first match of the day, seven different Chargers posted four kills or more as a part of balanced attack. Meteyer and Ane led the offense in the opening match with seven kills apiece, while Lee, Atufunwa and
Meghan Kennelly (Detroit, Mich./Eisenhower) each had six finishers.
Hayley Wilson (Denver, Colo./Overland) added five kills, and
Alex Bussey (Atlanta, Ga./Pace Academy) rounded out the offense with four kills on seven errorless swings.

Ane ran the offense from the setter spot and doled out 23 assists.

In the back row, Olaso posted a team-best 13 digs, followed by 12 from Meteyer and 10 by Lee. Atufunwa had a hand in two of New Haven's four team blocks.

Olaso also dropped in two aces, with one winner apiece coming from Ane, Kennelly,
Ashley Gomez (El Paso, Texas/Ysleta) and
Annika Hacker (Bayreuth, Germany/Littleton (Colo.)).

Saint Rose was led by eight kills from Maryellen Devic. Tori Daniels distributed 14 assists, and Katy Daniels had a match-leading 24 digs.

New Haven 3, American International 0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-17)The tournament concluded with the Chargers sweeping host American International. Meteyer led all players with 12 kills on .385 hitting (12-2-26) in the three-set contest. Atufunwa notched seven kills from the middle, and Lee contributed six finishers. Filling out another balanced offense run by Ane were four kills from Wilson, two for
Lexis Peterson (Windsor, N.Y./Windsor Central) and one apiece by Kennelly and Hacker.

Ane picked up two kills for her own in addition to 25 assists as the Chargers hit at a collective .233 clip.

Olaso once again led the defensive effort with 11 digs, while Lee also reached double figures with 10. At the net, Atufunwa got a piece of four of the Chargers' six team blocks, and Wilson was a part of three New Haven send-backs.

Hacker landed a career-best five of New Haven's nine service aces. Olaso dropped in two aces, and Kennelly and Gomez each scored one point from behind the service line.

Leading the Yellow Jackets was Bailey Swan with eight kills. Vanessa Ruiz doled out 15 assists, and Franny Sanchez had a match-best 12 digs.

New Haven remains on the road and resumes its NE-10 slate on Thursday, Sept. 25 at Assumption before returning to Charger Gymnasium to host perennial region power Dowling next Saturday, Sept. 27.
