Opening Tip
The University of New Haven men's basketball plays its final regular-season road game when it travels to American International for a Wednesday evening Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division matchup.

Last Time Out
Eric Anderson (Newark, N.J./Newark Tech) recorded his third game this season with at least 20 points and 20 rebounds and the University of New Haven men's basketball team shot better than 50 percent from the field as the Chargers won their second straight game, downing the Pace University Setters 64-49 in a Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division matchup at Charger Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

Jemal Mosley (Spring Valley, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep / Putnam Science Academy) led all scorers with 24 points, hitting 6-of-10 shots from three-point range, while Tommy Hunt (Smithfield, R.I./St. Andrew's) chipped in with eight points.Samir McDaniels (Roxbury, Mass./New Mission) helped to facilitate the Chargers' attack with a career-high five assists.

A tight game early, Pace held an 8-7 lead with 12:13 remaining in the first half before New Haven erupted on a 15-3 run during the next 4:23 that saw five different players score and was capped by a three-pointer by Mosley to put the Chargers up 22-11 with 7:50 to go. The Setters cut the lead down to the six on a jumper by Jaylen Mann before the Blue and Gold closed the half on a layup by Anderson and then a steal and a layup by Mosley pushed the lead back to 10 going into halftime.

In the second half, New Haven extended the lead to 13 on a triple by Jayson Cethoute (East Elmhurst, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) at the 11:54 mark, but Pace responded as back-to-back-three-pointers by Kyle Pearson sliced the lead to seven. The Chargers remained on top by seven at 48-41 after a pair of Setters' free throws before closing the game on a 16-4 run to cement the final score.

For the contest, New Haven shot 54.8 percent (23-for-42) and hit 10-for-19 from three-point range.

Scouting Report
American International enters play with an 18-5 record overall and is 13-4 in the NE-10. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 76-70 overtime win against Franklin Pierce on Thursday evening.

Four players average double-figure scoring for AIC led by junior guard Cameron Dobbs at 17.4 points per game and senior guard Bobby Harris at 17.3 per night. Senior forward Marcus Porter tallies 15.1 per contest. Junior guard/forward Trahmier Burrell rounds the quartet, scoring 11.3 points per game while leading American International in rebounds at 6.8 per tilt and shoots 54.4 percent from the field.

Andy Burkholder is in his first season as the head coach of the Yellow Jackets. Previously, he served as an assistant coach at AIC from 2005-11, helping guide the Yellow Jackets to the 2011 NCAA Tournament. As a player, Burkholder appeared in 71 games during a four-year career with Elizabethtown College, scoring 558 points.

All-Time Series
The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series 26-23. New Haven head coach Ted Hotaling is 5-4 in his career against AIC, including a five-game win streak prior to November. New Haven is 9-13 all-time in Springfield.

Turning Up the D
The 39 points that New Haven allowed against Merrimack on Saturday, Jan. 31 were the fewest that the Blue and Gold have surrendered since Feb. 16, 2013 when it beat Le Moyne 73-38. Since that final game in January, New Haven has held its opponents to an average of more than 25 points per game under their respective scoring totals.

Double Your Fun
With his 20-point, 22-rebound performance against Pace, Eric Anderson recorded his 14th double-double of the season and the 53nd of his career. That total ranks him tied for third among active players in Division II. The senior, who already holds the UNH all-time record for blocks, moved into third all-time with her performances last week. With his 12 rebounds against Le Moyne, Anderson moved into second place on the all-time Chargers' rebounding list with 1,215. Phil Andros is New Haven's all-time leader in rebounds with 1,732 from 1963-67.

20-20 Vision
The 20 points and 22 rebounds that Anderson recorded against Pace marked the third time this year that he eclipsed 20 in both categories, matching his output against American International (25 points, 23 rebounds) on Nov. 25 and Saint Anselm (26 points, 28 rebounds, 10 assists) on Dec. 31.  Anderson is the only player in NCAA Division II with more than one such game in 2014-15 and is the only player in the country with more than two games with 20 rebounds this season.

Owning Their Fate
Thanks to a victory by Saint Rose over Le Moyne on Saturday, the Chargers now control their own destiny to earn a bye for the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship slate dto being on Friday, Feb. 27.
