Opening Draw
The nationally-ranked No. 5 University of New Haven women's lacrosse team makes its second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and third overall when it faces the No. 4 Le Moyne Dolphins in an NCAA Championship First Round game at Ted Grant Field in Syracuse, N.Y. on Saturday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m.
Last Time Out
Kathryn Campbell (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) scored three goals and added an assist, but the No. 5 University of New Haven women's lacrosse team fell to the No. 4 Le Moyne Dolphins 11-8 in the Northeast-10 Championship semifinals on Saturday afternoon from Motamed Field on the campus of Adelphi University.
The Chargers got off to a slow start as the Dolphins went up 3-0 in the first five minutes. New Haven methodically worked their way back into the contest as goals by Ashley Travis (LaFayette, N.Y./LaFayette ), Campbell and Nicole Belanger (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) tied the game with 8:06 remaining in the first half. After Le Moyne scored again to make it 4-3, Campbell tallied her second goal of the game with 1:30 remaining in the opening frame to send the game into the half tied at 4-4.
New Haven recorded the opening tally of the second half as Campbell found the back of the net for the third time in the game just 40 seconds in. The Dolphins came back, scoring four of the next five goals to take an 8-6 lead. Travis netted her second tally of the game at the 10:05 mark of the second half, but the Dolphins scored the next three markers to open up a 11-7 lead.
Campbell Achieves Milestone
With her appearance in NE-10 Semifinals against Le Moyne, Kathryn Campbell tied assistant coach Ashley Ferrandiz (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) for the most appearances in program history with 75. She is also one point shy of becoming just the second player in program history with 300 career points. The Mansfield, Mass. native is the current program leader in draw controls with 271.
NCAA Tournament History
2015 marks the second straight year and third appearance in the NCAA Championships in program history. It will be the first time New Haven will not play LIU (formerly C. W.) Post. The Chargers played the Pioneers in both the 2009 and 2014 NCAA First Round, falling on both occasions.
IWLCA Honors
Six members of the  University of New Haven women's lacrosse team have been named to IWLCA All-North Region Teams as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.
Kathryn Campbell and Brittany Ast were named North Region First Team selections. Courtney Ackland and Corinne Fisher were Second Team honorees with Nicole Belanger and Hannah Johnson (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) earning Third Team accolades.
Campbell leads the Chargers with 52 goals and 29 assists this season, totaling 81 points. She also leads New Haven with 78 draw controls and 32 caused turnovers and is second with 50 ground balls. She is tied for the program lead in career appearances with 75 and is one point shy of becoming the second player in New Haven history with 300 career points. It is the third time Campbell has been selected to the All-North Region Team, garnering First Team honors in 2014 and second team accolades in 2013. Â
Ast is on the All-North Region First Team for the second straight season. She leads New Haven with 53 ground balls and is second with 27 caused turnovers.
Ackland is second on New Haven with 47 goals and 60 points and is third on the team with 13 assists. Fisher is second on the team with 55 draw controls won and is tied for third on the team 32 goals to go along with 10 assists. She is third on the Chargers with 43 ground balls to go along with 20 caused turnovers. It is the second season in row that both juniors are named to the All-North Region Second Team.
Belanger is third on New Haven with 35 draw controls to go along with 29 goals and three assists. Johnson played in all 18 games for the Chargers this season, accumulating 20 ground balls while causing 16 turnovers and winning nine draw controls.
Chargers Garner Major Conference Awards
The University of New Haven women's lacrosse team won three major awards from the Northeast-10 Conference as senior Kathryn Campbell (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) was named the Midfielder of the Year, Brittany Ast (Glenwood, N.J./Vernon Township) was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Head Coach Jen Fallon was named the Coach of the Year as voted on by the NE-10's 14 coaches.
Additionally, Courtney Ackland was named First Team All-Conference with Corinne Fisher and Nicole Belanger earning Second Team honors.

Scouting Le Moyne
The Dolphins are 17-3 on the season and are led by the NE-10 Player of the Year and Tewaaraton Award nominee Erica Geremia, who leads NCAA Division II with 112 points on the strength of 66 goals and 46 assists.
Along the defense, goalie Molly Marbut was named the Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Year. She carries a 6.80 goals against average and a .524 save percentage into Saturday's matchup. Joining Geremia and Marbut on the NE-10 first team are Maggie Monnat, Vicki Graveline and Amari Pollard.
Kathy Taylor is in her first season as the head coach of the Dolphins. A former standout player at Cornell, she most recently spent six seasons as the head coach at SUNY Cortland, compiling a record of 115-17.
All-Time Series
New Haven is 1-6 all-time against Le Moyne. The Chargers defeated Le Moyne 11-10 on April 2, 2014. The Dolphins have won both games this season against New Haven, coming away with an 18-10 win earlier this season at Kayo Field on March 19 before claiming last week's NE-10 semifinal
