FULL DON HANSEN ALL-AMERICA RELEASE
BROOKFIELD, Ill. – Following a run to the second round of the NCAA Championship, senior offensive lineman Dan Iannone (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and graduate receiver Ju'an Williams (Springfield, Mass./Springfield Central) each hauled in All-America accolades on Tuesday, named to the Don Hansen Division II All-America Honorable Mention Team. For both, it is the first such honor of their career while each was named to the Don Hansen All-Super Region 1 Second Team earlier this month.
The lone senior on the offensive line, Iannone led an O-Line that contributed to 4,827 total yards on offense, the most in the NE10, which includes just shy of 2,000 yards rushing. In addition, the O-Line protection was impeccable, allowing Patterson to be sacked just three times through the 10-game regular season.
After transferring to New Haven, Williams led a 14-member receiving corps with a career-high 1,171 yards, the most ever in a single season by a New Haven receiver. His 1,171 yards was 50 more than the previous record holder, Pierre Fils whose 1,121 yards came on 63 catches. Overall, Williams completed 65 catches, converting a team-high 11 of those into touchdowns. For the season, Williams averaged 18 yards per catch and just shy of 100 yards per game.
New Haven finished the season with a mark of 9-3, including the most memorable win, which came in the form of a NCAA Division II First Round 35-28 victory against then eighth-ranked West Chester. The Chargers eventually bowed out to Slippery Rock in the NCAA Division II Second Round, as they were defeated 59-20. The nine wins is the most under fifth-year head coach Chris Pincince who was named the New England Football Writer's Coach of the Year.
