FULL NE10 RELEASE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Rookie linebacker
Anthony Repollet (Hamden, Conn./Hamden Hall Country Day School) added to his spectacular special teams performance on Saturday by earning Northeast-10 Special Teams Player of the Week accolades as announced by the league office on Monday.
The Hamden, Conn. native blocked a pair of punts on Saturday in the annual battle of the Elm City against Southern Connecticut with each of those blocked kicks turned into points for the Blue and Gold, nine total for his squad. In addition, his first of the day was the first for New Haven since the 2016 campaign when teammate
Markel Johnson (Jersey City, N.J./Lincoln) did so against American International.
Repollet started off the scoring when he blocked his first punt on the Owls opening drive in the first quarter. Senior defensive back
Josiah Shumaker (Ledyard, Conn./Ledyard) scooped up the loose ball at the 13-yard line and eased his way into the end zone to put the first points on the board. He would strike again on the Owls opening drive of the second quarter, this time with the blocked punt dribbling out of the back of the end zone for the safety, that that safety the first recorded by New Haven since the 2013 campaign.
In addition to his high hands, Repollet two blocks accounted for 29 return yards while he added a tackle on the day, with that stop also coming on special teams, a solo tackle on a kickoff return.
Repollet and the Chargers will enjoy a week hiatus before returning to the field for the first of two home games in the month of November, welcoming the newest member of the NE10 to DellaCamera Stadium on Saturday, November 2.
