After recording another conference win over the weekend, the Chargers will face crosstown rival Southern Connecticut under the lights on Tuesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
SERIES HISTORY
Looking for its third-straight NE10 victory, the Chargers trail Southern Connecticut 6-9-5 in the all-time series that dates back to the 1996 season. New Haven is looking to put a tally in the win column for the first time since 2016 after dropping a 1-0 decision last season and finishing in a 0-0 draw the previous year.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (4-8-1, 3-6-0 NE10)
The Chargers are coming off a two game conference win streak. Junior midfielder Jenna Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) continues to leads the team in points (15) and goals (7), adding another two goals against Le Moyne. In addition to Peduzzi's goals, the Chargers offense tied their season high of five goals against the Dolphins. Tana Tufts (Hudson, N.H./Alvirne) (1), Samantha Roth (Hicksville, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (1) and Mackenzie Myers (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) (1) all scored against Le Moyne with Tufts recording her first goal of the season and second of her career, on top of recording an assist.
Senior Sorcha Ni Bhraonain (Galway, Ireland/Colaiste Cholmcille) leads the teams in assists, collecting four as a defender, including on the game winning goal against Franklin Pierce. Additionally, she added her first career goal this season and stands third on the team with six points. Myers and Tufts are currently tied for second on the team in assists (3).
Defensively, New Haven's goalkeeper Paige Davis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) collected her first shutout of the year against Saint Michael's. For the season, she has tallied 94 saves, with a .783 save percentage. In Davis's previous outing against Le Moyne, she collected another conference win, bring her record to 4-8-1.
SCOUTING THE OWLS (7-5-1, 4-3-1, NE10)
Southern Connecticut's offense have recorded a total of 15 goals on the season. Leading the Owls in points (9) and goals (4) is sophomore Kaitlyn D'Amico. Four different Owls have all tallied two goals on the season. Southern Connecticut is looking to break their three-game losing streak.
The Owl's goalkeeper Allie Smith has record six shutouts out of Southern Connecticut's seven wins, tallying 63 saves against her opponents, with a .829 save percentage.
