FULL NABC PRESEASON POLL
WEST HAVEN, Conn. – With the start of the regular season just over a week away, the New Haven men's basketball received some national recognition on Tuesday when they were listed as one of 35 teams receiving votes in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Preseason Top-25 poll.
A total of 60 schools received votes in the pre-season poll and all 23 NCAA Division II conference have at least one of its teams listed either among the top 25 or among those receiving votes. New Haven is one of three NE10 teams represented with two Northeast Division program among those 60 schools. Saint Anselm picked up 68 total votes which places them in the 21
st spot among the top 25 and represents the highest NE10 team. Bentley earned 25 votes while New Haven captured 18 votes.
New Haven returns four of five starters from last year's team that closed out the 2018-19 campaign with a 21-10 record and a trip to the NE10 Championship game and the NCAA East Region Championship. Leading the Chargers into 2019-20 will be the leading scorer from a year ago, senior
Elijah Bailey (Freeport, N.Y./The Hotchkiss School) who put up nearly 20 points per game (19.2). Junior
Derrick Rowland (Cohoes, N.Y./Green Tech) (12.7) and senior Kessly Felisor (10.3) also return after finishing with a double digit scoring average last season.
The Chargers will open up their 26-game 2019-20 campaign on Monday, November 18 when they take on Concordia before jumping right into conference play five days later hosting Le Moyne on Saturday, November 23. Also highlighting the Chargers schedule is a trip to Florida over Thanksgiving weekend for a pair of games against perennial Sunshine State Conference power Florida Southern, and Saint Leo.
