WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Charger men's soccer will hit the road for the final time in 2019 and head to Syracuse, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon for a NE10 Conference matchup against Le Moyne.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (4-9-1, 2-7-1 NE10)
New Haven has dropped its last three games dating back to a dramatic 3-2 overtime win over Saint Michael's on Oct. 19. Most recently, the Chargers dropped a 3-0 final at Assumption on Tuesday.
JP Viruet (Seymour, Conn./Seymour) moved into a tie for the team lead with his fourth goal of the season, and took over the team lead with 10 points on Saturday against SNHU.
Junior
Sean Skeens (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake Boys) scored his third goal of the season in New Haven's win over Southern Connecticut. Senior
Nate Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) has four goals and picked up his first assist on Saturday. Freshman
David Peteri (Rotterdam, Netherlands/Erasmiaans Gymnasium) has a pair of goals, and
Estanislao Desseno (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Saint Patrick College) and
Alvaro Ezpeleta (Vigo, Spain/Colegio Amor de Dios) are tied with a team-high four assists.
As a team, New Haven is scoring 1.57 goals per game this season, while allowing 2.29 per game. New Haven has had a good amount of success off set pieces so far this season, scoring nine goals off corner and free kicks.
SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS (10-4-1, 6-3-1 NE10)
Le Moyne is currently riding a three-match winning streak and a five-match unbeaten streak. Outscoring their opponents a combined 4-1 over their current three-match streak, the Dolphins are second in the NE10 in scoring this season with 2.47 goals per game, and are fourth defensively by allowing 1.12 goals per contest.
Junior midfielder Robert Rohrhirsch ranks second in the NE10 this year with 23 points, coming on a team-leading nine goals and five assists. Tom Henne boats a team-leading six assists and Goran Naric holds 18 points off seven goals and four assists.
Redshirt sophomore Josh Mahr had been a mainstay in net for Le Moyne, earning the decision in all 15 games with a 1.13 goals-against average that ranks fourth in the NE10, a .757 save percentage and a league-leading five shutouts.
