MANSFIELD, Mass. - Thanks to a standout performance in Saturday's season opener, Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) has been honored by the Northeast-10 Conference as its Rookie of the Week.

Deshaies led all scorers in her collegiate debut with 20 points to help the Chargers take down Staten Island 68-57 on Saturday. Her 20 points came on 8-of-11 shooting in 24 minutes of play, while also adding six rebounds and one steal.

Nine of her points came in the third quarter when she connected on all four of her field goal attempts, helping the Chargers outscore the Dolphins 24-7 in the period.

She pulled in a defensive rebound before scoring on the break to grow the lead to double digits for the first time at 51-40, then scored on a jumper exactly one minute later following a Chargers' steal to extend the team's run to 13-3 and give New Haven a 55-40 lead in the final minute of the third quarter.

Deshaies is the first New Haven player to earn Rookie of the Week honors since the 2017-18 season, when Brie Pergola (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) earned the accolade on three occasions.

The Chargers will return to action on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. when they host Bridgeport at Charger Gymnasium.
