FULL AVCA ALL-REGION TEAMS

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior right side hitter Mallory Nowicki (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview) added to her trophy case on Wednesday when she was named as one of 14 players on the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-East Region team as announced by the organization.

Nowicki, a two-time AVCA All-Region selection, and the Chargers will begin NCAA Championship play on Thursday evening as the fifth seed in the East Region. The Blue and Gold are slated for a quarterfinal matchup with fourth seeded Saint Anselm at 5:00 p.m. at Molloy's Quealy Gymnasium. The winner of that match will advance to the regional semifinals on Friday evening to take on the winner of No. 1 Molloy and No. 8 Adelphi.

The Grand Rapids, Mich. native opens the regional championship as the Chargers leading hitter with 255 kills, part of a balanced attack that includes five players with 100+ kills on the season. Her team-high kills comes on a .240 attack percentage while she adds to that eight assists, 93 digs and 45 blocks which is third most on the team. Earlier this season, Nowicki became the 17th member of the 1,000 kills club at New Haven, joining the elite group with her ninth kill during an NE10 match against Bentley.

Overall for the season, Nowicki has collected double figure digs in 15 matches, setting a season-high with 17 during an early season tournament hosted by Ferris State. That season-best for Nowicki came in a five-set match against Wayne State.
