WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The New Haven women's soccer team will be taking part in the third annual Pediatric Cancer Jamboree this Sunday, April 14 at the University of Bridgeport. Leading up to the main event on Sunday, the Chargers along with four other area schools, are looking to raise awareness and collectively raise $10,000 for the For Kids Sake Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by the family of Malia Dakota Jusczyk, a girl who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2011 at the age of two. The organization raises money for cancer research as well as for families of children diagnosed with pediatric cancer.
Sunday's jamboree will feature seven games between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Five area schools including New Haven, Bridgeport, Stony Brook, Bryant and Fairfield will all be taking part. The Chargers will be fundraising throughout the week in an effort to raise $2,000 ahead of Sunday's event.
This is the third straight season that the Chargers will take part in the jamboree. Over the first two years, the event has raised a combined total of $18,000.
