FULL AWARD RECIPIENT LIST
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of New Haven women's soccer team, under the direction of 10th year head coach
Laura Duncan, was recognized as one of five teams nationally who will receive a Platinum Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award by the United Soccer Coaches Association at their annual convention in Baltimore, Md. on Tuesday, January 16.
The United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics and Sportsmanship award recognizes high school and collegiate soccer programs who exhibit the best of fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game. The Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award is presented to members at four levels. Teams honored at the platinum level went an entire season without a player or coach receiving a yellow or red card. Teams honored at the gold (1-10%), silver (11-30%) and bronze (31-50%) levels are based on a percentage calculated by the total number of cards received by players and coaches divided by the team's total number of games played.
In total, 143 teams across the country were presented with Team Ethics and Sportsmanship awards, including 94 teams across the collegiate landscape. Joining New Haven in earning one of the five Platinum Awards was the women's soccer programs at Eastern Mennonite University, Los Angeles Harbor College, University of Pittsburgh-Bradford and Sweet Briar College.
Broken down, New Haven was the only Northeat-10 team represented among the Platinum and Gold levels while American International was the only other team to represent the conference, earning a Silver accolade.
