OPENING TIP
The New Haven women's basketball team heads into Wednesday's matchup against the College of Staten Island with a 2-0 record, that saw a blowout victory and clutch game-winner. Tip off for the game is scheduled for 5:30 PM on Nov. 17 at The Sports & Recreation Center in Staten Island.

INSIDE THE SERIES
New Haven holds a 1-0 lead over the College of Staten Island Dolphins. The two teams met on Nov. 9, 2019 for the first time, and it went the way of the Chargers by the score of 68-57.
The University of New Haven women's basketball team has only played the Dolphins once so this will be the first time the New Haven women's basketball team will head to Staten Island.

SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
The Chargers enter Wednesday's matchup against the College of Staten Island, looking to extend their win streak to three games.
New Haven's defense was a consistent force against the Bloomfield Bears, holding the team to 20 percent shooting, including 1-17 from the arc, as well as keeping the Bears to only 37 points.
The Chargers forced 29 turnovers, led byÂ
Brie Pergola (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) with four steals, which was then converted into 20 points onÂ
offense.
Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) led the charge with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists, while shooting an even 50 percent in the game.
New Haven followed their dominant win with a nail biting victory over the Georgian Court Lions, Â which came down to a last second tip-in by junior forwardÂ
Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) to give the Chargers a 76-74 win.
In addition to her game-winner, Deshaies put up a career-high in both points and rebounds with a 23 point-16 rebound double-double, the fourth of her career.
Deshaies was named NE10 Player of the Week after averaging 15.5 points and 14 Â rebounds while shooting 56 percent from the field.
Her 14 average rebounds currently leads the NE10 and she stands ninth in the conference in points.
One player ahead of Deshaies in points is teammate Cam DeBose, who scored 22 against the Lions to bring her average up to 18.5 ppg (t-fourth in NE10).
Free Throws were the name of the game in the winning effort over the Lions, as the team went 22-35 from the line (62.9%).
SCOUTING DOLPHINS
The Dolphins enter the matchup with a 1-1 record after hosting Wilmington and Holy Family. After taking a late lead on a free throw by Gia Esposito, the Dolphins beat the Wildcats 65-63.
Esposito led the Dolphins to victory in the first game with 25 points off the bench, going 6-9 from the arc. The Dolphins saw a combination of four players score double digit points in the winning effort.
The College of Staten Island dropped their second game in a 50-59 loss to Holy Family, where the Dolphins were held to one point in the third quarter, shooting 19 percent in the second half.
In the loss, the Dolphins were led in scoring by Elizabeth Lofaro, who tallied 14 points and seven rebounds.
Staten Island is shooting 37.8 percent from the field and 35 percent from the three, this season, and they have been outrebounded 60-94 to start the year, averaging 30 a game.
The Dolphins have two players with 10+ rebounds, Lofaro and Jenalyse Alarcon. While Esposito, Lofaro and Ashley Lambert all average over 10 points per game.
The Dolphins boast a roster comprised of six guards, three forwards and a center. The class makeup is divided into six freshman, three sophomores, no juniors and one senior.
Nicole Sarcone became the ninth head coach in CSI women's basketball program history in July 2018. A veteran of the high school coaching circuit on State Island, she replaced Tim Shanahan after a a pair of 20-win seasons.
Sarcone holds a 37-17 record as the head coach of the Dolphins, after taking the reigns during the 2018-2019 season.

The Chargers will stay on the road as they head to Syracuse to take on the Le Moyne Dolphins for the first NE10 matchup before returning home for a two game stand. The squad will take on Le Moyne at Ted Grant Court on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 1:00 PM.
