Three Chargers Win All Conference Awards

FULL NORTHEAST-10 ALL-CONFERENCE RELEASE

MANSFIELD, Mass. –
With the conclusion of the conference regular season, the Northeast 10 announced their end of season awards with three members of the University of New Haven Women's Volleyball team taking home accolades for the season. 

In her first season with the blue and gold Freshman Amihan Johnson (Tacoma, Wash./Fife High School) emerged as one of the key scorers for the Chargers attack and with that was named to the Conference All Rookie Team. Appearing in 102 sets, the second most on the team, Johnson finished her rookie season with 179 kills averaging 1.75 per set while adding nine service aces. On the defensive side, Johnson finished with 59 blocks along with 67 digs all to finish with 225 points on the year. 

Emily Barry (Freeport, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) in her senior season was named to the Third-Team All-Conference team. Returning to the lineup following an injury Barry returned to her form from the 2021 season making an immediate impact. Barry through 72 sets on the year registered 183 kills along with eight service aces. Barry also added 50 blocks along with 177 digs finishing the season with 219.5 points and finishing third on the team in points and kills.

Macy Brown (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac) took home First-Team All Conference for the second time in her career and started right where she left off in her freshman year. Brown led New Haven and the entire NE10 with 369 kills averaging a team and conference best 3.58 kills per set in her 103 sets of action. Brown also was tops in the conference and team averaging .58 service aces per set on her 58 aces on the year. Defensively Brown led the Chargers with 407 digs leading the Blue and Gold with 449.5 points. 

The Chargers return to West Haven and wait for Selection Sunday to find out their potential seeding for the NCAA East Regional Tournament. In the Regional Rankings released on November 9, New Haven was ranked 9th in the poll behind five conference opponents. The Chargers will be together on Sunday waiting for the Selection Show which will take place on Sunday Nov. 13 at 10:30 p.m. All updates schedules and tournament information for the team will be available at Newhavenchargers.com.
