SPARKS, Md.
 - With just a little bit over a month until the University of New Haven women's lacrosse program opens their season on the road, the Chargers rank 22nd in the 2022 IL/IWLCA Division II Preseason Poll, announced Jan. 31. New Haven received 95 votes and came in a rank lower this year than they did in last seasons preseason poll.

In the 2021 season, the Blue and Gold went 7-7 overall, 6-5 within the conference. Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) assisted New Haven throughout the season with 36 goals, seventh in the conference, and seven assists. Skelly started in all of New Haven's 14 contenders and was named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team.

The Northeast-10 conference dominates the rankings, with seven of the top-25 schools across all Division II being members of the conference: Le Moyne, Adelphi, Bentley, Pace, Assumption, Saint Anselm, and New Haven. The Sunshine State Conference follows the NE10 with four schools listed in the top-25.

Lindenwood, who ranked No. 1 last season, stays atop in the poll receiving 20 first place votes. Behind them is UIndy with a single, first place vote.

This is the first preseason poll where both organizations combined voting efforts to formulate this list. Announced last week both Inside Lacrosse and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association will jointly publish weekly polls for the 2022 season.
