Inside the Series
Since 1977, the Adelphi Panther and New Haven Chargers have a documented 49 contests making this go around the big 5-0. The Blue and Gold have more losses than wins when taking on this conference rival. However earlier in the season when Adelphi came to Charger Gym, New Haven added another victory to their win column, making their record against the Panthers 20-29. Head coach, Ted Hotaling, has led the Chargers to exactly half of their victories over Adelphi.

Scouting the Panthers (17-8, 11-6 NE10)
The Panthers have lost their past two contests, ending their eight-game win streak that stretched from Jan.19 through Feb. 12. In their almost month-long, hot streak the Panthers took a victory over No.19 Bentley University by one point. They step back onto their home court after losing two on the road to Southern New Hampshire and Pace, which moved them from first in the Southwest division of the NE10, to third.

Despite having the second top-scorer in the conference on their roster, the Panthers average 75.9 points per game - the fifth best scoring average in the NE10. Ronnie Silva, a senior guard standing at 5-foot-9, averages 20.3 points per game. On the season, he has scored a total of 507 points. Silva leads the team in not only scoring, but also field goal percentage (.424), three-point field goal percentage (.386), free throw percentage (.908), and steals (30).

In the past two losses, Silva still managed to combine for 39 points. In the start of the Panthers two-game cold spell, Silva went 0-for-9 from three-point range which is quite the change up from what he's used to. Back on Feb. 8 against Le Moyne he also went 0-for-7 from outside the arc. Silva is very hot and cold when it comes to three-point shooting lately.

As for the team, in their second-half loss to SNHU, they went 2-for-27 when attempting three's, an astronomically low percentage for this team. The Panthers are used to averaging 10.4 made three-point field goals per game.

Scouting the Chargers (16-7, 12-6 NE10)
On the contrary to Adelphi, New Haven kicked off a five-game win streak that propels into Saturday's matchup. They also are coming in off a massive rivalry win over their crosstown rival, the Southern Connecticut Owls. The win over SCSU at home also solidified their tenth straight win in Charger Gymnasium, the last time they lost a game on their own campus was to Dominican on Saturday, Dec. 27.

On their senior night, the Blue and Gold's defensive rock climbed charts and set new career-highs. Majur Majak (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) already led the conference in blocks prior to their last game, and holds onto the ranking today. He has also received the ball under the basket a lot more, which has improved his scoring. Wednesday's meeting was his third consecutive double-double with 12 points and 18 rebounds. He also set a new career-high of nine blocks, surpassing his previous by one, which made him one block short of a double-double.

Majak's stellar performance over the past three games has pushed him up New Haven's charts for blocks in a single season. After swatting away nine shots, he moved from sixth place up to second, now with 74 to his name. He is two blocks away from stealing the number one spot from Eric Anderson who blocked 75 shots in the 2013-14 season under Hotaling.

Tavin Pierre-Philippe was absent from the starting five last game, but still came in for 23 minutes of play. In the Chargers five-game win streak he's scored double-digits every time, averaging 13 points per game the last five. The sophomore put up 14 in the big rivalry game, and wagers in at fourth on the team in scoring with 180 points, despite missing the first nine games.
