Just after a stellar 4-0 start to their season, the Chargers took a fall to No. 3 Adelphi on Tuesday. Now they welcome the Molloy Lions to Kathy Zolad Stadium for a non-conference matchup before hitting the road again.

Inside the Series
Since their first meeting in the 2006 season, New Haven holds 11 total victories over Molloy. Starting with a 12-10 overtime win in 2011, the Chargers have executed eight straight successes when meeting on the turf with the Lions. It has been two seasons since these two teams took the same field, the last time being New Haven's visit to Rockville Centre, N.Y. where they outscored Molloy 18-6, their largest margin of victory against this specific opponent.

Scoring the Lions (5-4, 0-0 ECC)
Molloy's most recent contest at Jefferson, which was scheduled for Mar. 19, was canceled. They come into Thursday having just shy of a week absent of game action. The Lion's season started on Feb. 20 at Georgian Court where they started their 2022 campaign off with a 5-9 loss at Georgian Court.

After their season opener, they went 3-2 before having their Mar. 12 matchup postponed. Since then, Molloy triumphed over Chestnut Hill and Felician, but had a loss to Bentley sprinkled in between.

Leading the pack is junior, midfielder Amanda Webster. She has played in all nine contests, and has made three starts this season. In total she's scored 25 goals while assisting five and performing .741 accuracy in shots on goal.

Defending the net is Mary-Kate Sweeney who has made all nine starts. Prior to becoming a Lion for the 2021 season, Sweeney played both soccer and lacrosse in high school. In her debut season, 2021, she finished with a .429 save percentage, tallying 87 saves. Over the course of her nine total games this season, she is at 54 saves on 193 shots faced.

While they have not faced any East Coast Conference teams yet, Molloy was tabbed third in the conferences' Preseason Poll. Opening the first week of conference honors Lions freshman attacker, Alexa Amorison, snatched Rookie of the Week for her four points (one goal, three assists) in Molloy's win against Holy Family and three points (two goals, one assist) against Stonehill.

Scouting the Chargers (4-1, 1-1 NE10)
New Haven comes into Thursday coming off their first loss, after kick starting their season 4-0. On Tuesday, the fell 19-6 to No. 3 Adelphi in their second consecutive Northeast-10 contest.

Against the Panthers, junior Annie Acquavita (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) had herself a night scoring a team high of four goals, two of which were a result of free position attempts. In the Chargers home opener against Franklin Pierce, Acquavita had five goals, which was just one shy of her career high set last season.

Helping the Chargers to productive possessions is Gianna Caprioli (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Franklin Delano Roosevelt), freshman midfielder. She has started all five games and has won 27 draw controls. Cypress Levitt (Calais, Vt./Montpelier) has also won 17 draw controls and has executed a four goal offensive output so far this season.

Adelphi limited the Chargers to only 15 shots, a season-low. Before Tuesday's loss, New Haven has averaged 19.5 shots per contest. Molloy has allowed their opponents to average 17.7 shots on goal per contest. After a limited amount fo shots last game, the Chargers are sure to pick up on offense.
