Chargers Win Streak Comes to an End with Loss Against Lynn

Boca Raton, F.L- The New Haven baseball team was on a nine-game winning streak, when that streak was halted by a last-minute run scoring for the Flying Knights of Lynn University. The Pincince brothers leading the way for the Chargers at the plate going three for three on the afternoon.

Lynn 5, Chargers 4 (9 Innings)

The Chargers offense started off slow with two ground outs to start off the inning, and a single from Andrew Cain (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) to center field.

The offense began to hit up in the top of the second inning, following a leadoff single to second base from Owen Pincince (North Haven, Conn./North Haven). He would not be on the bases long after getting caught up in a fielder's choice when advancing to second on Robert Taylor's (Wolcott, Conn./The Gunnery) grounder to second base. Freshman Cam McGugan (Mystic, Conn./Fitch) would drive in the run on a line drive single to central field, to give Chargers their first run of the game, tying it at one.

Lynn would find themselves another run in the second inning, and from then on it would be a pitching battle between both teams. The Chargers would not find themselves some offensive movement until the top of the 5th, first hit being from Zach Pincince on a fly ball to the right fielder, followed by an RBI single from Andrew Bianco (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park). Lynn would not be silent for the rest of the inning.

New Haven would find themselves some offensive momentum in the top of the sixth. With the leadoff man grounding out, Robert Taylor (Wolcott, Conn./The Gunnery) took to the plate taking the first pitch and driving it hard to left field for a single. Matthew McIntire up to bat next would take a ball, then double on a line drive, moving Taylor to third. Kenny Hirschfield wasted no time, swinging on the first pitch to bring Taylor home, pushing the Chargers ahead.

One run was not enough, with Aedan Forde (Massapequa Park, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) up at the plate the Chargers looked to advance the lead even more. Taking one pitch for a strike, Forde ended up putting the next one in play, reaching on an error from the shortstop, McIntire scoring for the Chargers.

Lynn would find their way back in bottom of the seventh, evening the score, eventually taking the lead by one. Despite a leadoff walk from Noah Budzik (Cromwell, Conn./Cromwell) New Haven a double play and a strikeout would end the game for the Chargers.

Mason Glickman (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) started the game for the Chargers, going three innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out one. The Chargers would see through four more pitchers enter from the bullpen, but. Kyle Allen (Middle Island, N.Y./Longwood) would take the loss for New Haven. The righthander went one and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on three hits and walking one.

The Chargers would find eleven hits on the afternoon. Both Owen Pincince (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) and Zack Pincince (Woonsocket, R.I./North Haven (Conn.)) would rack up multiple hits on the afternoon. Both ending the game with three hits at three at bats.
