Buff Adds Jason Dunne as Assistant Coach

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – University of New Haven head women's basketball coach Debbie Buff announced the addition of Jason Dunne as the Chargers assistant coach beginning with the 2023-24 season. Dunne comes to New Haven after a successful playing career at the University of Hartford and most recently serving as the Hawks Director of Men's Basketball Operations for the 2022-23 campaign.

"I am ecstatic to have coach Dunne join our basketball family," said Buff. "His passion, knowledge of the game and high level of playing experience will make an immediate impact. In addition, he comes from a basketball family, and we look forward to welcoming them to Charger Nation as well."

As the Director of Operations, Dunne oversaw all travel arrangements, community service events and gear orders. In addition, he assisted with recruiting, scheduling, film, opponent scouting and player development. Prior to returning to his alma mater as the Director of Operations, Dunne spent the 2021-22 season as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the University of Hawaii.

"I am extremely thankful and excited to join the University of New Haven family," said Dunne. "Women's basketball at New Haven is built on integrity, community, and hard work. I can't thank Coach Buff enough for the opportunity. I look forward to working with her and our student-athletes as we strive for greatness."

Dunne also has coaching experience outside of the collegiate ranks as an Assistant Coach for the Jersey Force AAU program in 2021 and has worked as a youth basketball coach and trainer throughout New Jersey since 2015.

As an undergraduate at the University of Hartford, Dunne was a standout on the court as a four-year starter for the Hawks. A two-time All-Conference honoree, he closed out his collegiate career sixth all-time in scoring with 1,458 career points and second all-time in career three pointers made. Following his graduation, he played the 2019-20 season internationally for the BKM Lucenec in the Slovakian Basketball League.

Dunne graduated from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Arts in communication media and journalism in May 2019.
