MANSFIELD, Mass. -Â For the second-straight week and the third time in the last five weeks, freshman
Jah'Likai King (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) has been named to the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week. The honor also marks the fifth straight week a New Haven player has earned the distinction with King earning three and redshirt freshman
Ethan Simmon (Edison, N.J./St. Joseph Metuchen) earning a pair in that stretch.
Simmon wrapped up a two-game week for the Chargers averaging 21 points per game, putting up 20+ in both games and extending his time high in the scoring column to 15.0 ppg. In games against Southern Connecticut and Saint Anselm, King averaged 47.2 percent from the field, connecting on 17-of-36 attempts form the field with a pair of three pointers while also going 3-of-4 at the free throw line. In addition to his scoring, he added six rebounds, nine assists and seven steals combined in the two games. With his nine assists and seven steals he now leads the team in both categories.Â
King and the Chargers will return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to the Granite State for a date with the Franklin Pierce Ravens.
