WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Fresh off the programs fifth Northeast-10 Conference Championship, and second in the last three years, University of New Haven head football coach Chris Pincince has announced the Chargers full 10 game regular season slate that will make up the 2024 schedule. Among the 10-game schedule are four that will come at the friendly confines of Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium.

The season kickoff of the 46th year of Charger football will come on the road as the Chargers head to western Pennsylvania to take on perennial PSAC powerhouse Slippery Rock University on Saturday, September 7. The matchup versus Slippery Rock is the start of a home-and-home series which will bring The Rock to DellaCamera Stadium during the 2025 campaign. Kickoff in this year's season-opener for both teams is slated for 1:00 p.m. at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
One more non-conference contest will await the Chargers when they return from Pennsylvania with the first of two meetings against the Pace Setters on the docket for Friday, September 13 with the Chargers making the trip to Pace Stadium for a 7:00 kickoff.
Following back-to-back meetings on the road to open the season, New Haven will make its debut on the blue and gold turf on Saturday, September 21 when the Franklin Pierce Ravens make the trip to West Haven. Opening kickoff in the home opener is set for 1:00 p.m. The trip home will be short lived as the Chargers will head right back on the road to close out the opening month of the season in Waltham, Mass. when they take on the Bentley Falcons on Saturday, September 28.
The month of October will begin with a home game, the only in the month, as the Chargers will welcome the American International Yellow Jackets to DellaCamera Stadium on Saturday, October 5. That game will also serve as the Chargers annual Homecoming game and the Pink Game to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Research in partnership with the Sorbello Research Lab on campus. Kickoff in the Homecoming contest is set for 1:00 p.m.
Following a bye week, the Chargers will close out the month of October on the road as they travel to crosstown rival Southern Connecticut on Saturday, October 19 and Assumption on Saturday, October 26. The matchup with the rival Owls will serve as the annual Battle for the Elm City with New Haven having won the last 15-straight games against SCSU, maintaining possession of the Elm City Trophy for the last 13 straight years.
The final month of the regular season will see two of three games come at the friendly confines of DellaCamera Stadium, the first with a visit from the Post Eagles on Saturday, November 2. The second ever meeting against the Eagles will also serve as the first between the two teams since the Eagles joined the Northeast-10 Conference as an affiliate in football.
The regular season road finale will come as the penultimate regular season game with the Chargers traveling to Manchester, N.H. to take on Saint Anselm on Saturday, November 9 in the only game away from home in the month of November.
After returning from New Hampshire, the Chargers will close out the regular season with a rematch of the early season match-up against Pace as the Setters will make the trip to West Haven on Saturday, November 16. Opening kickoff in the regular season finale is set for 1:00 p.m.
Following the regular season finale against Pace, the top seven teams in Super Region One will advance to the NCAA Division II Football Championship which opens up with First Round action on November 23 at home sites.
The top seed in each of the four regions will receive a bye in the first round, while all battle for a spot in the national Championship game on Saturday, December 21 at McKinney Independent School District Stadium in McKinney, Texas.
In nine seasons under Pincince, the Chargers have collected 68 wins after closing out the 2023 campaign with an 8-3 record that culminated with a visit to the University of Charleston (W.Va.) in the opening round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.
