FULL NE10 Spring Sport Excellence Award Release
MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Women's Field Athlete of the Year, Kristen Washington (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) added another academic honor to her accolades as she was selected as the NE10's Sport Excellence recipient for women's outdoor track and field. Washington is the first Charger to earn the distinction since both Cam DeBose and Conor Degenhardt were honored following the 2022-23 academic year and she becomes the 17th Charger to receive the honor.
The two major NE10 honors for Washington come in addition to All-Conference and All-Region accolades while also being named College Sports Communications Academic All-District for her success in the classroom.
In her final season with the program, Washington took home a pair of medalist honors with the top mark in both the long jump and the triple jump at the NE10 outdoor championships, setting a personal best in the long jump enroute to the league title. She followed that up a week later with a personal best in the triple jump an event she narrowly missed out on earning a bid to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.
Off the track, Washington is pursuing her Doctor of Health Sciences after completing an undergraduate degree in health sciences and a Master of Science in health sciences from the University. The New Haven native holds a cumulative GPA of 3.91 in graduate school after concluding her undergraduate work with a 3.62 cumulative GPA.
