FINAL RESULTS

GETTYSBURG, Penn. – The University of New Haven Women's Golf team began their defense of the Northeast 10 Conference crown, under newly named head coach Evan DeLuca, as they opened up their season in Pennsylvania as they competed at the West Chester Invitational at The Links at Gettysburg. A 5,803-yard Par 72 course the women were one of eight teams, one of four NE10 schools, competing in the two-day invitational that saw first-round play on Monday with the second round concluding on Tuesday. 

Wynter Flores (San Antonio, Texas/Incarnate Word) led the way for the Chargers carding her best score of the tournament with a one-over 37 on the back nine to finish six over in the second round matching her first-round score, to combined for a six-over 156 (+12) for the tournament, which placed her fifth overall and two shots back of the fourth place and eleven back of the lead.

Erin Earl (London, England/Saffron Walden County Day) follwed her, finishing in a tie for tenth as she carded an opening round of 81, followed by a second round 83 to shoot a 164 (+20). Sophia Silva (San Antonio, Texas/Incarnate Word) and Isabella Thomas (Oxford, Conn./Laurelton Hall) tied for 22nd overall as the pair each shot a two-day total of 173 (+29) as Silva shot  86,87 and Thomas shot 88,85.

Rounding out the New Haven five was Danielle Jastrab (Camino, Calif./Eldorado) who shot a two-day total of 181(+37) with rounds of 92 and 89 finishing 27th overall.

Overall the Chargers finished fourth, shooting a combined 666(+90) three shots back of third as the Blue and Gold shot even scores of +45 on both Monday and Tuesday.

The Chargers return to the course next week when they travel north to New Hampshire to compete at the Franklin Pierce Invitational at Bretwood Golf Course in Keene, New Hampshire. Opening round action takes place on Monday, September 16 and the final round will be Tuesday, September 17.
