WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Track and Field split on Saturday, as some of the program stayed in the area to compete at Yale's Season Opener, and the other part of the program was in Ocean Breeze, N.Y. at the Fastrack Opener.
At Yale, on the women's side,
Jada Kamtha (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Wolmer's Trust High School for Girls) finished third in 60m hurdles with a time of 8.68s.
D'Jior Delisser (/) took home first place in long jump, leaping 5.78m. Kamtha finished third in the event, with a distance of 5.56m.
Gabrielle Teel's (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) first-place finish in triple jump was headlined by a third jump of 11.93m.
On the men's side, the 4x400 relay, consisting of
Nathaniel Massingale (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet Senior High School),
Kaidyn Nalley (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell),
Andrew Ferguson (Deep River, Conn./Valley Regional), and
Amir Phelmetto (/) took home first place, with a time of 3:18.04.
Jhelani Anderson's (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) 22.20s 200m earned him first place in the event.
Connor Knee (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) earned third place in the mile, completing it with a time of 4:30.96. Phelmetto continued his great day with a first-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.29s.
Matthew Steele (North Kingstown, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) took first place in long jump after temporarily flying for 6.86m. Steele finished second in triple jump as his best jump was 14.21m, one spot ahead of
Noah Cooper (Hopatchong, N.J./Union Catholic), who took third by way of a 14.02m jump. To wrap up the day,
Jimmy Oreste (Jamaica, N.Y./) weight throw was 18.41m, good for second place.
At the Fastrack Season Opener, on the women's side,
Piper Lopashanski (Albany, N.H./Kennett) finished third in the 600m with a time of 1:41.30s. Kamtha earned first place in the 60m hurdles with a 8.71s time. Teel earned first place in the triple jump, jumping 11.87m.
Vanessa Connolly's (Portland, Maine/Portland) third-place finish in shot put was courtesy of a 12.11m toss.
On the men's side, Anderson took third place in the 300m with 35.31s. Second and third place in the 500m were occupied by Chargers, as
Kaidyn Nalley (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) (1:05.59s) and
Andrew Ferguson (Deep River, Conn./Valley Regional) (1:05.62s) each placed on the podium. Steele earned a third-place finish with a 14.48m leap in triple jump. Oreste's 18.26m weight throw earned him first place to put a bow on the day.
