WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven Track and Field competed in two events over the weekend, at the University of Hartford and the University of Connecticut. First, the Blue & Gold sent a contingent to Hartford on Friday before recording podium finishers on Saturday.
At Hartford, on the women's side, Divine Kabongo (Naugatuck, Conn./Naugatuck) placed third in the 400m hurdles, with a time of 1:10.70s. Alicia Brown (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) took home first place in pole vault, with a mark of 3.10m, or 10'2". Riley Davis (Preson, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) collected a third-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.15m, or 16' 10.75". Vanessa Connolly (Portland, Maine/Portland) took home second place in shot put with a throw of 11.56m, or 37' 11.25".
On the men's side, Caleb Aghor's second-place finish in the high jump was powered by a jump of 1.92m or 6' 3.5". Declan McGrellis (Frederica, Md./Frederica) took home third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.00m, or 13' 1.5". Luis Calderon (/) earned second in the triple jump, leaping for 13.36m, or 43' 10".
At UConn on Saturday, Gabrielle Teel (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) earned fourth place in triple jump, with a mark of 11.87m, or 38' 11.5".
On the men's side, Jhelani Anderson (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) set a program record in the 100m, with a mark of 10.42s. Noah Cooper (Hopatchong, N.J./Union Catholic) earned fourth place in the long jump, with a winning leap of 6.85m, or 22' 5.75".
The Blue & Gold are back in action on Friday at the Silfen Elite Invitational, sponsored by Connecticut College.
