WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. New Haven Softball saw five of its players named to this year's teams.
Bella Chenet (Plantation, Fla./Archbishop McCarthy),
Olivia Roberto (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun),
Stephanie Smith (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Catholic),
Lucia Ceccarelli (Griswold, Conn./Griswold), and
Kylie Thorpe (Taunton, Mass./Taunton) were named to the Division II Academic All-District team.
Chenet, an All-NE10 Third Team outfielder, batted .264 with a .725 OPS in 43 games for the Chargers. The Plantation, Fla. native scored a career-high 31 runs and matched a career-high 13 RBIs this season for the Blue & Gold. She also finished with a new career-low in strikeouts with 11, and walked more than she ever has, finishing with 21.
Roberto, a senior outfielder, slashed .262/.333/.291 with a .624 OPS en route to her first-ever CSC All-District selection. Roberto stole the first two bases of her career in 2025 while striking out and walking 11 times each.
Smith, a graduate student from Rockaway, N.J., started 42 games for the Blue & Gold in 2025 and drove in nine runs during the campaign. Smith connected for a career-high 19 hits in her fifth year and also walked a career-high eight times.
Ceccarelli, a junior outfielder, started 30 games and appeared in 31 for New Haven. Her .259/.294/.296 line set career-highs across the board and also resulted in a new career-high OPS of .590. She also threw out two base runners from the outfield, doubling her total from the previous two years combined.
Thorpe, an infielder from Taunton, Mass., started 41 games while appearing in 42. She set a career-high in OBP, reaching base as a .352 clip. A major reason why was that she walked 17 times in 2025 as compared to nine total the previous two seasons. She also finished with a career-high 26 hits for the Blue & Gold.
