STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – New Haven Track and Field took part in the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday afternoon. The Blue & Gold watched as numerous athletes earned spots on the podium in their events and broke one program record.
On the women's side,
Jada Kamtha (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Wolmer's Trust High School for Girls) earned first place in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.83s.
Gabrielle Teel (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) earned first place in the triple jump with a mark of 12.04m. Freshman
Alicia Brown (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) took home fourth place in pole vault, with a high mark of 2.95m.
Vanessa Connolly (Portland, Maine/Portland) slotted in fifth place in the shot put by way of an 11.80m toss.
On the men's side,
Jhelani Anderson (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) took home second place in the 200m dash with a time of 21.95s, finishing just .01s behind the winner.
Cole Parker (Severn, Md.) set a program record in pole vault with a mark of 4.70m, clearing the rest of the field and earning the top spot.
Matthew Steele (North Kingstown, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) finished fourth in the triple jump with a 14.28m mark.
A quick turnaround follows for New Haven as it takes part in the CGA Winter Invitational in New London, Conn. on Saturday, Jan. 17.
