SMITHFIELD, R.I. – New Haven Track and Field traveled to the campus of Bryant University on Wednesday afternoon for the Bryant Throws Competition. The Blue & Gold fared well in the meet, with numerous podium finishers.
On the men's side,
Jimmy Oreste (Jamaica, N.Y./) picked up where he left off prior to the holiday break, finishing first in the Weight Throw, with a distance of 17.93m.
Richard Fortune (/) rounded out the top five in the event, with a distance of 15.29m. Fortune also took home a fourth-place finish in shot put, where he registered a distance of 14.68m.
On the women's side, the Chargers finished third through sixth in shot put, featuring
Alanah Weaver (Wilmington, Del./Archmere Academy), Kniya White, Vannessa Connolly, and
Nora Gauteri (Nashua, N.H./Nashua South), respectively. Hannah Gastellum was New Haven's top finisher in weight throw, slotting in at sixth place with a distance of 12.90m. She was the top-ranked freshman in the event.
New Haven returns to the track this weekend at the Wesleyan Rust Buster in Rochester, N.Y.
