West Haven, Conn. – The NEC announced its weekly award winner on Monday afternoon, featuring New Haven Men's Basketball guard
Jabri Fitzpatrick (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) as Player of the Week. Fitzpatrick becomes the first player in program history to earn the award at the Division I level.
In two games last week, Fitzpatrick brought his strong play another level. The North Brunswick, N.J. native began the week with a 29-point effort in a 64-51 win over Stonehill at The Hazell Center on Thursday night. In the win, he also collected eight rebounds, came away with four steals, and shot 52.4% (11-21) from the field and 40.0% (2-5) from beyond the arc.
Fitzpatrick found a way to make an even bigger impact on Saturday in his home state of New Jersey, scoring 32 points in 39 minutes in New Haven's win at FDU. 12 of those 32 came from three-point range, where he made all four attempts from deep. From the field, Fitzpatrick shot 64.7% (11-17), dished out four assists, and pulled down five boards. The game was also Fitzpatrick's third straight with multiple steals as he finished the game with three.
