Men's Soccer Drops Non-Conference Match to C.W. Post

(09-30-09) BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The University of New Haven men's soccer team fell 3-0 Wednesday afternoon to C.W. Post on Long Island. With the loss, UNH falls to 1-7 and the Pioneers improve to 4-4-1.

After staying tied 0-0 for the entire first half, the Pioneers came out of halftime and scored three goals in the first 12 minutes. The first came in the 48th minute when the Pioneers scored off a header on a corner kick. Just under a minute later, C.W. Post took a 2-0 lead when they rebounded a shot off UNH goalkeeper Jonthan Creem. The Pioneers final goal came in the 57th minute when they netted their second rebounded goal of the game.

The Pioneers held a large 20-5 advantage in shots, including a 13-2 advantage in shots on goal. C.W. Post also held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks, while fouls were called even at 9-9. Four yellow cards were handed out, including three to the Pioneers, in the second half.

Freshman forward Joe D'Antonio tallied all-but one of the Chargers five shots. He also added one of two shots on goal for the Chargers. Trent McCaskill registered the Chargers only other scoring opportunity.

The Chargers return to action on Saturday, October 3 when they travel to Stonehill College. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
