WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The NEC announced its end-of-season award winners for the 2025 men's soccer season on Wednesday afternoon. New Haven's Alessandro Bizzini (Imola Bologna, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Valeriani) was voted Second-Team All-NEC, and Guilherme Meira (Alfredo Chaves, Brazil/Clotilde Rato) was selected to the conference's All-Rookie Team.
Bizzini, a goalkeeper from Italy, was the first Charger to garner All-Conference distinction after being voted to the second team in the Blue and Gold's inaugural DI season. Bizzini tied for the league lead with five shutouts and ranked second in save percentage (.757).
The goalkeeper was named NEC Player of the Week on Sept. 15.
Meira, a defender from Alfredo Chaves, Brazil, finished his freshman campaign playing in 14 games, starting 10, and scoring three goals for the Blue & Gold. He finished eighth in the conference in shots (30) and ninth in shots per game (14).
Meira led the Chargers freshmen in minutes, goals, shots, and shots on goal. Team-wide, he finished ninth in minutes (781), second in goals (3), and led the team in shots and shots per game.
The NEC named Meira Rookie of the Week on Sept. 2.
