Chargers Topped at Queens, 3-0

BOX SCORE FLUSHING, N.Y. – The University of New Haven men's soccer team came up on the short end of a 3-0 decision at Queens on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match. The Chargers move to 0-2-1 on the season following the loss.
 
The host Knights (1-1-1) got a goal in the fifth minute from Tyler Iocco, which stood up on the game-winner, and added a pair of insurance tallies in the second half off the foot of Jose Lopez.
 
James Pyatsky (Stewart Manor, N.Y./Garden City) made six saves in goal for New Haven over the first 83:09 of the match. Jason Smith (Gales Ferry, Conn./Ledyard) made his collegiate debut and did not face a shot over the final 6:51.
 
Queens' Sean Geoghegan turned away the only shot on goal by the Chargers, which was fired by Andres Torres (Medellín, Colombia/Norwalk (Conn.) / Adelphi University). New Haven was outshot, 16-7, overall.
 
The Chargers complete their non-conference slate and wrap-up a three-match road swing on Friday, Sept. 13 at Molloy at 4 p.m. The NE-10 schedule begins on Kayo Field against Saint Rose on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.
