BOX SCORE 2 EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The University of New Haven women's volleyball team went 2-0 this afternoon at a tri-match hosted by East Stroudsburg. The Chargers downed Holy Family, 3-1, and swept the host Warriors to conclude the day of action at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The two starting middle hitters led the New Haven offense.
Amber Cannady (Yonkers, N.Y./Charles E. Gorton) posted a team-high 3.71 kills per set and a .383 hitting percentage, with
Ashley Dalton (Helena, Mont./Capital / Northern Arizona University) adding 2.57 kills per frame while swinging at a .364 clip.
Kristy Atufunwa (Denver, Colo./Denver East) added 1.43 kills per set in the middle.

Cannady also had a hand in eight of the Chargers' 13.5 team blocks. Atufunwa and Dalton added five and four block assists, respectively.

On the outside,
Meghan Kennelly (Detroit, Mich./Eisenhower),
Kristen Lee (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) and
Margo Meteyer (Madison, Wis./Madison West) each averaged better than one kill per set. As a unit, New Haven hit .159 while its opponents posted a .058 hitting percentage.

Reigning Northeast-10 Setter of the Year
Kaulana Ane (Paia, Hawai'i/Kamehameha) and freshman
Annika Hacker (Bayreuth, Germany/Littleton (Colo.)) shared setting duties in the Chargers' seven sets of action. Hacker registered a team-leading 6.14 assists per set with Ane handing out 5.14 assists per frame.

Kea-Marie Olaso (Kailua, Hawai'i/Le Jardin Academy) and Kennelly helmed the efforts in the back row with 4.14 and 4.00 digs per set, respectively.

New Haven 3, Holy Family 1
After Holy Family swept East Stroudsburg in a CACC outing, the Chargers took the court for the first time against the victorious Tigers. Fueled by 12 kills (12-2-21, .476) and six blocks from Cannady, New Haven took a 3-1 victory that was decided by a total of 10 points – 25-22, 25-22, 23-25 and 26-24.

Dalton had 11 kills and four blocks in the four-set match. Hacker and Ane each recorded double-doubles. The freshman posted a team-best 23 assists with 10 digs for her first career double-double, while Ane had 19 assists and 11 digs for her 14th double-double as a Charger.

Olaso led the effort in the back row with a match-high 22 digs. The New Haven libero also dropped in four service aces. Guided by four players with double-figure digs and a 11.5-6.0 advantage in blocks, the Chargers limited the Tigers to a .040 hitting percentage for the match.

Against the host Warriors, New Haven was again led offensively by Cannady with 14 kills, while Atufunwa was the club's most efficient hitter at .583 with seven kills on 12 errorless swings in the sweep. Kennelly neared a double-double with nine kills and a match-high 13 digs as well as four service aces.

Hacker and Ane shared setting duties once again, distributing 20 and 17 helpers, respectively.

The Chargers took the match by set scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-23. New Haven hit .288 and limited East Stroudsburg to a .088 clip.

Today's trip to Monroe County began a five-match road swing for the Chargers. UNH will now play three straight opponents that reached the NCAA Division II East Region Championship with visits to NYIT, Franklin Pierce and Dowling before returning to Charger Gymnasium to entertain Assumption on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
