Women’s Basketball Releases 2019-20 Women’s Basketball Schedule

View Full Schedule

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven women's basketball coach Debbie Buff has announced New Haven's schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season. The Chargers' schedule features 26 games, including 19 Northeast-10 Conference matchups. The regular season is evenly split with 13 home and 13 away games, starting with four consecutive home matches to open the season.

"We think it is beneficial to play teams from different conferences, which gives us different styles of play to prepare for," Buff said. "We also like to challenge ourselves out of conference against quality opponents, and we are able to do that against teams like Saint Thomas Aquinas, who went 26-5 last year and were regular season champs in the ECC."

The Chargers will usher in the 2019-20 campaign with a four-game homestand, starting on Saturday, November 9 with a matchup against the College of Staten Island, who will be competing in their inaugural game as a transitioning Division II program.

New Haven will welcome Bridgeport to Charger Gymnasium on Nov. 16 before hosting Bloomfield on Wednesday, Nov. 20. New Haven will then open up NE10 Conference play by hosting reigning NE10 champion Le Moyne on Saturday, Nov. 23.

The Le Moyne matchup will start a string of five straight conference matchups, which will continue at Pace on Nov. 26 before returning home to face Southern Connecticut (Dec. 4) and Saint Rose (Dec. 7), closing a stretch of six of the first seven games at Charger Gymnasium.

Three straight road games will close out 2019 with a trip to American International, and non-conference matchups at Chestnut Hill (Dec. 11) and Dominican (Dec. 19). After Goldey-Beacom visits Charger Gymnasium on January 2, the Chargers will head to Long Island for a matchup with Adelphi on Saturday, Jan. 4 before playing at Saint Thomas Aquinas in their final non-conference game of the season on January 8.

The Chargers final 13 games of the regular season will all take place in conference. Six home games will highlight the slate including three straight games against Northeast Division foes in reigning NE10 runner-up Bentley (Jan. 14), Saint Anselm (Jan. 22) and Franklin Pierce (Feb. 1).

The final 13-game stretch will also see New Haven travel to Stonehill on Jan. 18 for the first time since defeating the Skyhawks on the road in last year's NE10 Quarterfinals. The Chargers will also play three road games at fellow Southwest Division foes Le Moyne (Feb. 8), Saint Rose (Feb. 12) and Southern Connecticut State (Feb. 19).

The postseason will tip off with NE10 Conference Tournament First Round action on Friday, Feb 28, continuing through the NE10 Conference Championship Game on Sunday, March 8. All games will be hosted by the higher seed.

New Haven returns four of its five starters from last season in senior forward Micah Wormack (Cumberland, Md./Allegany), sophomore guard Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community), junior guard Brie Pergola (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) and senior guard Kim Talley (Quakertown, Pa./Lansdale Catholic). The Chargers finished the season 18-12 (10-10 NE10), advancing to the NE10 Semifinals.
