WEST HAVEN, Conn. – New Haven men's soccer will conclude a three-match homestand this Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. with a matchup against Saint Michael's. The game will be part of a doubleheader with the Chargers' women's soccer team, who will be taking on Le Moyne at 1 p.m.
INSIDE THE SERIES
New Haven has won their matchups with Saint Michael's in each of the last two seasons, and is 5-6 all-time against the Purple Knights. The last five matchups have all been decided by one goal.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (3-6-1, 1-4-1 NE10)
New Haven is coming off a 5-2 loss against Post on Tuesday, where the Eagles scored two goals over the final five minutes. New Haven snapped a five-match winless skid last Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over Southern Connecticut, their first win over their crosstown rival since 1984.

Nate Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) leads the Chargers with four goals and eight points. Freshman
David Peteri (Rotterdam, Netherlands/Erasmiaans Gymnasium) and sophomore
JP Viruet (Seymour, Conn./Seymour) have two goals apiece. Junior
Estanislao Desseno (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Saint Patrick College) leads the way with four assists and sophomore
Alvaro Ezpeleta (Vigo, Spain/Colegio Amor de Dios) has three assists to his credit.
As a team, New Haven is scoring 1.80 goals per game this season, while allowing 2.20. New Haven has had a good amount of success off set pieces so far this season, scoring nine goals off corner and free kicks through their first 10 games.
SCOUTING THE PURPLE KNIGHTS (3-6-2, 0-5-2 NE10)
Saint Michael's enters Saturday winless over their last six games, which includes a double overtime loss to Bentley and a 2-2 draw against American Int'l.
Saint Michael's is 3-3 all-time at New Haven, and holds a 0-4 mark on the road this season. Scoring an average of 1.45 goals per game this season, Saint Michael's is allowing 1.98 goals per contest.
Senior Jake Bannon leads the Knights with four goals. Mikael Ameris, Kyle Brady and Ryan DiNapoli all have two goals apiece, and sophomore Miguel Diaz is tied with Brady for the team lead with three assists. Three different goalkeepers have played in at least four games this season, with redshirt junior Leland Gazo leading the way with five starts. Freshman Tommy Coil has appeared in eight games, while making two starts and holding a 2-2 record.
