WEST HAVEN, Conn. – For the first time this season, the New Haven women's basketball team is ranked among the top 10 in the D2SIDA East Region Media Poll, jumping into the rankings this week at No. 6.
The Chargers will take the court on Tuesday evening to face Pace, who also jumped into this week's rankings for the first time at No. 9 following their strong 5-1 start. The Chargers and Setters are among seven teams from the Northeast-10 to comprise this week's rankings.
The Chargers are off to their first 4-0 start since the 2013-14 season and have allowed fewer than 50 points in each of their last three games. Their defense is holding opponents to a conference-low 48.8 points per game and a field goal percentage of .298.
Freshman
Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) has scored double figures in all four games this season, ranking fifth in the NE10 with 13.8 points per game. She is also second with a .639 field goal pct. Senior
Micah Wormack (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) is coming off a season-high 14-rebound, five-block performance on Saturday against Le Moyne. She has 12+ rebounds on two occasions this season.
Brie Pergola (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) is also tied for seventh in the NE10 with 4.0 assists per game.
